Izzy's Steaks & Chops

Very friendly and welcoming. Great food and the kids enjoyed their meals too! A good variety and my husband loved the steak. Would be a great place for a date night too. Looking at moving to the bay in the next few months, will be back next time we visit. more

Being a transplant to the bay area is a new experience, and finding a new local place for happy hour can sometimes be a painful experience. But one day some friends invites me to Izzy's Steaks and Chops for Happy Hour!!! more

We arrived in San Carlos well into the evening after a long drive and checked into our hotel, a Fairfield Inn. Tired and hungry we spotted Izzy's across the parking lot and walked over to get some dinner. We were happily surprised when we arrived there and were given a warm welcome and seated immediately (it was somewhat late in the evening). Our server was pleasant, helpful and friendly. My husband got a very good steak and I, feeling like a lighter dinner, got a chicken cutlet dish. Along with my chicken I chose the house potatoes. The potatoes were delicious, almost enough on their own to entice a diner back there; the chicken also was favorable and moist -- what else could you want? It was listed under lighter offerings but there was enough left over to bring back to the hotel and have for my lunch the next day also Pros: good food, excellent service Cons: ambiance average, out of the way area for most people more

zzy's at San Carlos has a different environment from that located in S.F. San Carlos feels more refined. I must say the Cowboy Ribeye is a good choice for those who into ribeye. I always get the Filet Medallions. They are great. I have tried them medium and the other times medium-rare. I would go with medium rare if you enjoy that cooking selection. The drinks are great and the service is good. The cons would be no dry-aged meats but don't worry, all of their meats are great and come with choices of sides which I love. The Izzy's own potatoes are worth trying. We have been able to get the Drunken Shrimp as an appetizer which I recommend. They are tasty. I always order it when I arrive. They are so good. I can't get enough of them. The only draw-back as I said is they do not serve dry-aged, but maybe they will in the future. Izzy's is a great place to eat and is cheaper than Bobo's and Ruth Chris although they are steaks are of different levels. Don't be fooled from the prices. I think it is cheap for the food you get and the quality it is served at. At plate of Filet Medallion with two sides at just $30? It would be the same price eating at a generic placed such as Black Angus with bland food. I have taken many people and they have enjoyed the Izzy's experience. It is worth going for a night. IThe one in San Carlos is a better location than San Francisco. I have yet to go to the one in Marin. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I have. It is so good, I am having my party at Izzy's the next month so all of my visitors can enjoy a good father's day/ graduation as a premier restaurant. Pros: Great food for the price... you can not go wrong. Cons: Wish they had a bigger selection of meat. more

We were in the mood for steak so we visited Izzy's. Our server was fantastic, attentive, prompt, everything you would want in a server. The steaks were a little chewy with not much flavor. The potato looked old, but as long as you weren't interested in eating the skin, the inside was fine. Overall I wasn't impressed, an average dining experience at an above average price.
