Island Spice Jamaican

Island Spice is an entirely authentic Jamaican restaurant with consistently great food and service. While a lot of the businesses is take out and delivery, I recommending visiting in person at least once to appreciate how they prepare their simple dishes with great pride and care. This place is a San Diego gem. more

The food is amazing and great value for the price. I got the jerk chicken meal and 2 sides of plantains to share with 3 people and we have more than enough food. highly recommend more

I ordered from Island Spice on 11/27/2011. I ordered the Oxtails and Brown Stew Chicken(originally wanted fish but they said they had run out, then wanted ackee and cod and they were out of that also) I also ordered two slices of cake(one strawberry one chocolate) My delivery was slated to arrive within 45-60 minutes. My order arrived right at the 60 minute mark. The delivery person gave me my food and had me sign a printout of the order I placed online. I did not get a receipt from him for my records. After sitting and dispersing the food, I realized that I had been given a slice cake of carrotcake instead of my chocolate cake. I called them when I realized the mistake. They said someone would bring it back out to me. Another 30 minutes passes and I call back to get an ETA. I was informed that they needed to call the delivery guy and he would bring it shortly. I never got a call back and never got the slice of cake! Today is 12/1/2011... I am very disappointed. I spent close to $50 on their food, which to be fair was pretty good. I wouldn't recommend them... well not if you actually want what you ordered. Be blessed. more

We had the BBQ chicken and vegetarian plate. The BBQ chicken was delicious. The vegetarian plate was basically all the stuff you get with the meat dishes without the meat (red beans and rice, plantains and grilled cabbage). The portions were huge and the food tasted great. The cabbage was a bit greasy, but not bad. Overall yum!! more
