Terrible place. Doctors showed no sympathy at all for my cat when she passed. They could not or did not know how to help her. All about $$$ over there. They never impressed upon me the seriousness of her condition even at her last visit. I would never tell anyone to bring their pet there.\r \r \r more

Worst place and people ever!!! 9/29/2011

We were recommended by a friend that knew someone who takes all his dogs to Island lake Clinic to crop they're ears. The first time we went Dr. Max was really nice and seemed caring. He told us to come back at 12 weeks to go ahead with the procedure for $375 with everything included. A day or so after the procedure we noticed the cone ripped Cain's skin back, so they told us to bring him in only to find out Dr. Max wasn't even there. We had to come back the following day to get a staple put in his ear. Then I made an appointment to get his stitches removed only to find out yet again Dr. Max wasnt there that day. After finally letting the ears heal we noticed there is a Noticeable difference in his ears. We went there yet again and Dr. Max noticed they were off asked that we wait until Cain is full grown at 9 months to see if they even out and if not he will fix it at no cost to us. We did not understand why it mattered if the ear was standing up yet since it was the measurements that were off but he's the Doctor so we listened to his suggestion. We brought him in at 9am when he was 9 months. Dr. Max seemed as if he was trying to convince us that the ear is just not standing because the length is the same. I didn't understand how he was eye balling it and for sure saying it is even height. I asked he measure them to be sure so he did and said the length is fine but the width is off so he will fix the one ear to match the other and asked us if we have the cone from when he was 12 weeks. There is no way that cone would fit him now since he is 3x the size and he chewed it up anyways. I asked if he can just give us one and he nodded his head in agreement. We came back at 5:30pm and the women at the front desk never made eye contact and made me feel uncomfortable. We waited a long time then the front desk girl came up to me asking for the cone. I told her Dr. Max said he would give us one and she turned around and walked away in the middle of me talking. RUDE! Then Dr. Max came out saying everything went well but we need to buy a cone. He suggested we get one from pet smart. We expressed how we were told everything will be at no cost and he should provide one but he stood there and said he has those for our convenience to purchase. We told him we would never be in this situation if he would have done the cropping correctly the first time and we would never have to put our dog through this again. Dr. Max had the nerve to say we came in saying the length was off but it wasn't so it has to come out of our pocket. My fiance walked out and I still stayed trying to get the cone that we deserve but realized he's not giving it to us so I left too. Not once did he try to discuss what he did and what we should expect when we get home, no pain meds and no cone. To top it off, while we were getting in the car the vet assistant yelled out the window, "Have a nice day!" And slammed the window shut. We go get a cone from the nearest store and as soon as we get home Cain shakes his head and blood splatters everywhere. All over my fiances face, clothes and kitchen. We were freaking out so we went to the nearest animal hospital to find out we need $$$ up front so we wasted so much time trying to find $$$ or a place that will help us and finally McHenry emergency clinic was wonderful! We got home at 11pm. This all happened while my 2 young children were present and scared for our dog. How can you live with your self! Take pride in your work! Caregivers should actually care! I would give zero stars if I could, I do not recommend! more

Best veterinarian 1/7/2011

This clinic was recommended to us and was spoken very highly of by other dog owners. We have two dogs and this clinic has taken great care of both of our dogs. One of our dogs is 50 lbs and had an operation done at this clinic. The surgery went great, the recovery was great, and the service overall was outstanding. Our second dog is 177 lbs, this clinic has treated skin disease that our dog had. In addition, both of our dogs receive their shots in this clinic. Overall, I think this clinic is great and after having the chance to visit many other veterinarian clinics with previous pets, I think this is one of the best clinics. more

Great Doctors 11/10/2010

I have always admired Dr. Max's caring demeanor with our cats. I am excited to hear he is now at the Island Lake Clinic, as it is closer to our home. And, hopefully if we change Vets to Dr. Max, we won't have to wait for HOURS to see the Doctor. more

Best Clinic Ever 11/10/2010

I have been search for a good doctor for 8 years. I am so glad I found doctor Max and his caring staff. As a breeder I need a vet and the staff be available for questions and service almost 24/7. All my clients now changed their doctors to Island Vet Clinic because prices are very reasonable and Doctor Max is familiar with my particular breed. He is diagnosis are very good. I am very sorry to read all those "terrible" reviews, but I am doubting that they are anywhere close to be truthful. more

Terrible 11/3/2010

I took my dog here to get his nails cut. He came out of the exam room bleeding, and the tech said nothing about his condition other than he was difficult to handle. I gave them another opportunity and they charged me full price when they cut half of his nails. more

Terrible Place 5/1/2010

After moving to Island Lake I wanted to find a vet that was closer, and this one happens to be 3 blocks from my house. I went there for my dog to get one shot and her nails clipped. The vets assistants spoke down to me the entire time. They took my dog into the other room to clip her nails and all I could hear was my dog going hysterical, this has NEVER happened before. Then the actual vet came in, didn't even introduce himself, gave her the shot, and walked away. As a first time customer there, I will NEVER go back. I would not recommend anyone to go here, and I warn as many people as I can against going there. Pros: None Cons: The staff, the treatment of animals, the prices. more

Great Vet But Has Gotten Very Expensive 3/2/2009

I have been going to this clinic for over 20 years. The original vet retired and sold the practice to Dr. Terdik.\r He is a wonderful caring vet, but has raised his prices very much in the past 4 years. Dr. Warcholek was awesome. I wish I lived closer to his practice. He has also had a couple of vets that were rather offensive to me. One example was a very nice male doctor that insisted not to touch or assist to hold my cat during a routine examination, this cat in particular is one I raised from 2 days old. He actually grabbed my hands away from my cat and told me he did not want me to get bit. Hello... I know my cat.\r I wanted to bite him. \r I could go on about the rude vets there, one actually wanted a deposit for a sick stray kitten I brought in..yep after going there over 20 years.\r I work at a local bank. Many of my customers had been going there for years also. They have found different vets because of the increased costs of exam charges and medicine cost. \r In fact today, I spoke with a customer. Her cat has ear mites. They wanted $30.00 for the exam, and another $25.00 for the drops. \r more
