DON'T SELL YOUR GOLD HERE!!! 2/26/2012

I give this establishment two stars only due to their selection if your buying and not selling! I didn't say it first, but the words came across as a glorified pawn shop in Irvine. \r I came in with a handful of old jewelry in the higher-end 22-24 karat, and the price of gold was at $1735oz. The gentlemen who helped was Cameron, and after inspection and weighing he offered $1000 dollars for about 50 grams. I asked what you're paying per gram, and he said about $30. Well 30 x 50 is not $1000! I then said I have another appointment with another company to sell, and he did some recalculating and offered $1350. Needless to say, I did not sell to Cameron. I kept my appointment with the other institution in N.B. across from John Wayne Airport, and they gave me $1900 for the same handful of jewelry. \r Maybe a place to buy, but not to sell!!! more

The honest & best place to sell your gold 10/5/2011

(I also have the same review on Irvine Gold mine since there're two listings.) I just sold my Krugarrand gold coins to Irvine Gold Mine. I highly recommend here! I called 3 different places for a quote, and Irvine Gold Mine gave me the best quote. Once I got to the mall, I couldn't find it (the whole place is under construction as of today). I saw another jeweler which had a big 'sell your gold' sign. I figured it doesn't hurt to check out. They were trying to take my gold coins inside to get the quote, so I had to ask them to keep them in my sight. It's not some kind of gold chain that needs appraisal. Their quote was very low, so I asked how much fees they were charging. They answered 12%, but from the highest price I saw online that morning, their quote was closer to 18%. Even considering the fluctuating value, it's still too high. I finally found the right place, and went in. They actually gave me $10 more than the over the phone quote, because the price went up while I was getting to Irvine Gold Mine! They charged about 3% of the value. According to what I researched online, 3% is the right amount. If you have any gold to sell, make sure to check out today's price, that way you will be assured to know Irvine Gold Mine is honest in dealing with you. This is the best place, and I will do business again. more

do not sell your gold to ANYONE else!! 8/5/2010

The reason I initially decided to go to the gold mine was because they were SO NICE over the phone. most coin stores I called were pretty rude and seemed like they thought they were doing me a favor to give me the price of a kruggerand over the phone. um, hello, i want to give YOU business! anyways, i'm bad with directions so i ended up in the right shopping center but in the wrong store. i went into mactavish thinking that i was at the gold mine. the gold mine had quoted me over the phone almost $1200 for each of my 1 oz kruggerands.... and I walk into mactavish and they offered me $200!!! i was like ummm, are you kidding? you must be confused. these are 1 oz coins and (thinking i was in the right place) i told them they had quoted me higher on the phone. they told me i was lying, the coins weren't worth that much. so i asked if i was at the gold mine and they proceeded to tell me that they would never pay me that high and totally bagged on the gold mine.... so, i was livid. i found my way to the gold mine, walk in the door, tell the girl helping me what i have to sell, and she quotes me within $2 what i had been quoted over the phone and then she apologized because gold had come down $2 since we talked on the phone earlier! long story short, they paid me cash a very fair price and made me feel very comfortable the entire time i was there. if i didn't have a fistful of cash, i would have gone to mactavish to yell at them but alas, not worth the risk. long story short, sell your gold at the gold mine!! they will not take advantage of you if you look like a girl who doesn't know anything about gold like i do! i'm going back soon with all of my old charm bracelet, hoop earrings, etc since i don't wear that stuff anymore! more

my favorite jewelry and coin store 10/16/2009

my favorite local jewelry/coin shop was listed twice so here's a copy of my review on their other listing: more

Great place to do business 10/16/2009

I've been doing business with the gold mine since the early 80's. Over the years, I've dealt with them in a number of different capacities. My husband is a coin collector and works with John at the gold mine buying and selling rare coins. With the economy right now, John has also helped Rick invest in gold and silver bullion. He's extremely knowledgeable and has always been very fair and honest with us. I also used the gold mine to redesign my wedding ring (and ""upgrade"" the center diamond) a few years back. I still get compliments on it and they clean it for me for free anytime I stop by. It's so convenient... I drop my ring off, run to Ralphs and by the time I get back it looks brand new. It's nice to work with a store that's been around for so long and cares about maintaining its good reputation. I give the Irvine Gold Mine my wholehearted recommendation! Pros: fair prices, good customer service more

Great place to buy/sell bullion 5/28/2009

With the economy the way it's been lately, I decided it was time to start investing in gold and silver bullion. I called around and most places I called were very short on the phone and acted as if they were doing me a favor. Then I called the Irvine Gold Mine and the were very nice and didn't treat me like I was an inconvenience to them. They intelligently answered all of my questions and quoted me very fair prices over the phone. When I got into the store, they were just as nice as they had been over the phone and had a great selection of gold and silver bullion. I highly recommend this store to anyone who is interested in buying and/or selling gold and silver. They also had some very pretty jewelry (which is awfully tempting when you're walking around with cash to buy gold!). more

Irvine Gold Mine - one stop shop for all your jewelry and coin needs 4/18/2009

I first found this store off their ad in the register and it said they pay cash for gold so I decided to check it out. I brought in some old broken chains and some coins my grandfather gave me. They were honest and professional and paid me top dollar for my gold. I had a friend with me who saw a pair of earrings that she loved and she got a great deal on them. They let her put them on layaway so she can make payments when she has the money. I noticed that they also sell all kinds of gold and silver bullion if that's what you're after. \r \r All in all, I highly recommend this place. Definitely the only place I would go for this type of a thing.\r \r FYI - when you look at the reviews for this place, the reviews for Irvine Jewelry Mart show up too... and they're not very good... so make sure you don't judge this place based on the wrong reviews! more

Great place for investment coins gold wealth planning 11/18/2008

We send several clients for gold coins and investment grade metals and got good feedback, The staff was very helpfull and couteous. We recomended this local business at our Asset Protection Seminar, Sears Law Building. Our speaker Steven Sears Attorney also spoke highly of the staff at the Irvine location. Pros: nice people good service more

Very smooth purchase 8/22/2008

They were very helpful, honest, and their jewelry was priced competetively. The manager is EXTREMELY knowledgable and happy to advise customers on very many different topics!! Pros: Great! Cons: no more

Great Place to sell jewelry 8/22/2008

I visited the Irvine Gold Mine a couple of times to sell some old jewelry of mine. I was offered a quite a bit more than a nearby jewelry store and the transaction was smooth and easy. I intend to go back to sell some more and If i were going to purcahse something new I would know where to take my business. Overall a great business! Pros: Everything was great Cons: None that I remember more

well- trusted jewlers 3/26/2008

I highly recommend irvine Goldmine to anyone who has any jewlery or coin needs. They fixed some old jewlery i had and did and amazing job. My jewlery came out looking brand new! There so reasonable priced and doexcellent work. They really care about their customers. Ive also visited their sister store Anaheim Hills Jewlery and coin mart and i had a pleasant experience there as well. Great service and ran very well! Pros: great service, great prices more

TERRIBLE, UNFORGIVABLE. 10/18/2007

They performed services I didn't yet authorize, I merely asked for a quote but they started the job without my ok, whatever - it was a minor battery replacement or so I though. My husbands TAG watch came back with greasy disgusting fingerprints all over it, they didn't even wipe it off. Little did I realize the prints were there to hide the big scratch on the face of the watch (which wasn't there when I came in). \r \r Upon pointing it out, I received the rudest most confrontational "service" from the jerk owner (total trash guy) and told me to take him to small claims was his remark. He began YELLING AT ME, and then accused me of coming into his business to "start trouble". Oh please, I have 2 businesses and a real job I don't have time to play with trashy people whose business has been around longer than I've been alive and can't grow their business to be bigger than my living room. If you want to go to a mom and pop jewelry shop there are many more elegant places next door. Thi more

Nasty Nasty Place! 10/18/2007

This place is listed twice here. So I have to review them twice... more

Despicable purely appalling 10/18/2007

can't imagine why this place is in business with the terrible people that run it and own it. They clearly hire disabled people to keep their costs down. They damaged my property in mere minutes (all they needed to do was change a watch battery!), didn't own up to it, and the disgusting trash of an owner began accusing me for being a troublemaker after they damaged my property! more
