Editorial review from Citysearch 12/19/2012

This is a great gym! Very very clean and a good variety of equipment (free weights, weight machines, treadmills, etc). The owners take a lot of pride in their facility and that is very much appreciated. I always get a great workout at IWF and highly recommend this gym. more

Rude and arrogant owners 2/15/2012

Boulder Ironworks Fitness - I've been a member of this gym for two full years and just got kicked out of place today because I asked them about the accuracy of their video camera system, which they used to verify whether non-members access to their facility or not. Last week, they told me that they detected my key has been used by other people and saw different person accessing the system using my key, which is totally untrue. OK, I went to gym twice that day and exercised maybe too much. That's not a crime. \r \r I wanted to make it sure I wouldn't be accused of compromising their policy by sharing the key with someone and that's why I asked them to verify the info, which they refused to do so and basically lying about the system flagging the photo as a different person from the registered member, which is not, in the first place, possible. Instead of apologizing for the false accusation, they asked me to leave and terminated my membership without refunding my membership fee which automatically charged for this month a couple of days ago. I refused to leave and demanded the refund then they claimed that I made disturbance to the business. And they threatened me that they were going to call the police if I didn't leave immediately. I didn't have anything to be ashamed of so I asked them the police if that's how they wanted to handle the situation.\r \r Great! Police came over and they told me that I can sue them later for the membership fee that the owners refused to refund but I had to leave if the business owner asked a (powerless person who never violated anything whatsoever) client to leave for whatever reason. Two police women came for this case, although one of them was very empathetic toward my situation but neither of them apparently can't protect an innocent person who got very much insulted and poorly treated by the horrible business owners.\r \r Besides the story above, I just realized that the first thing owner told police was that I was a KOREAN and talked about my employment status and such. They probably thought they could threat me more effectively if they revealed my (potentially illegal) immigrant status to the police. Do I have to sue them to get my membership fee refund? Do they reserve some right to kick me off without refunding my fee based on no ground? It's not just about stupid money. I've nver been insulted this much in my enitre life!\r \r more

Bare Minimum 10/10/2008

Although Iron Works seems to have a great membership feeand policy, I found it to be overpriced and frugal. The equipment is new and easy to operate, but it is very close together and rarely cleaned. The gym is hardly ever staffed and no one can answer any questions. The monthly membership is around $50 for students which is ridiculous, considering One Boulder Fitness and Flatirons start around $40 and give you access to a full locker room, sauna, pool, steam room and childcare. The trainers at Iron Works are mostly interested in their check at the end of the session and never listened to what I was asking to accomplish. I would not reccomend this gym to anyone who wants the benefits of a health club (isn't that what everyone is paying for?). Pros: 24 hour access Cons: customer service, lack of equipment, trainers more
