Best

Im sorry you did not have a great experience at my shop, it would be my pleasure to personally take care of you if you would like to come back for a cut at my expense. Sean.

Worst

Please take time to read this entire review. I'm going to be fair and honest about my experience. Wow two stars is equal to SORTA GOOD. I got to take that to mean a bunch BAD. ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/17/2012

People who want the special attention of a hairdresser or a ""stylist"" shouldn't come to The Irish Barber - or any barber. The Irish Barber is a great shop, and you can get a great haircut and shave. I recently moved to Fairview Park from Columbus. The Irish Barber's quality, service, and price are far superior to anything I got at the three shops I used over the 21 years I lived in Columbus. more

Owner does not focus on customer he is cutting 9/5/2011

I usually do not take time to write a review but I feel the need to get the word out to any potential customers. This place offers the worst customer service I have seen at a shop. Where do I begin? They have 3 barbers here. The owner Sean is the only one anyone will go to. The barber in the middle I watched him take an hour to cut a little kids hair. The young guy on the l no one wanted to go to him when their turn came up. Now for the real problem. The owner is doing about 20different things when he actually cutting your hair. He did ht following things while I sat in his chair. 1. Had a5minute conversation on the phone 2. Left me to go pour a beer for someone 3. Walked away to talk to another customer who came in He never once apologized and had zero concentration on my hair. I just sat there waiting for him to finish. The other 2barbers are obviously not good because no one would go to them. Some advice for Sean the owner. Hire new barbers. Actually give good service and haircuts to the people in your seat. You wants to run a business but not take care of his clients. I wIll never go back. Rudest experience of my LIFE more

Honest Review to check out to get you prepared. 2/7/2011

Please take time to read this entire review. I'm going to be fair and honest about my experience. Wow two stars is equal to SORTA GOOD. I got to take that to mean a bunch BAD. Don't make mistake by taking in the other seven 5-star reviews to think it is really that good of a place. It gets the job done, if you are willing to go there after reading this. IF there was so many happy people they should have hundreds of reviews. Only four here + three there seems a little off. Only have been there once. No price posted that I was able to see. Did not look too hard. Was told $17 after the haircut and they expect a tip; for a haircut that was slightly better than the All-Star Barber College on Lorain in Cleveland's inner city. I gave my $20 because I was in a rush, but I will not return. These reviews are correct, it was a long wait. You can drink at the bar and eat some corned beef sandwiches. The food was a bad cut of beef, lots of fat that was expensive. Cold sandwich that you can heat up in the microwave. They purchase them from someone else so that is partly why it cost a little more. Instead of just having food there to give you something to do they are a middleman and double what they pay to make an easy profit. Sure they throw out a few from time to time. You can go to Joe's on Hilliard hand have a much better meal for the same price. Of the three barbers which one took a break with a ton of people waiting. That is fine if he had to go to the bathroom, but it did not appear to be that way. He was gone for a long time. He was the best of the three from my point of view. People wait to get their main barber, which makes everyone thrown off to who's next. They have a simple system, but it seems too complex for what is needed with the set up. He should have all quality barbers or just be the only one working. I honestly did not think his hair cuts were any better than the one who cut mine. I had the other guy who did an average job. Think everyone was trying to avoid him. They will talk about sending their kids to an all male Cleveland high school; which is a couple streets over from the barber college. Sure it is the best school and they do not mind getting the education there but want nothing to do with the area besides the Great Lakes Brewing Co or some trendy restaurant. Dont get me wrong, I was happy to see a different business than the old Motion Car Audio that was there before. Those people were great but their business was not needed. It attracted the wrong crowd. But people kept them in business for some time. Its funny so many people who can barely afford to send their kids to that HS. Here's some barber which does 2-3 hair cuts an hour making some big money in cash. You know not all of that income is claimed. How many parents out there bust their behinds to send their kids there and this guy has it easy. What you feel sorry for the guy? Because he is Irish? Go to West Park area and walk out for a haircut just as good for half the price. I am sure a good part of Cleveland is Irish. There has to be a handful of barbers over there. I can see if the guy spent a full hour on your hair. But it is a basic cut. In and out after a long wait. more

Great Place for a Haircut and More 1/9/2010

This is a real gem of a place. It reminds me of going to get my haircut at the barber as a kid on Saturday mornings. Sean is a really friendly guy and a great barber as well. With the addition of the bar next door, waiting in line for a cut doesn't really matter much. I was there yesterday for the first time since the pub opened and enjoyed a pint while watching college hoops. I also met and talked to a couple local guys and the atmosphere makes it seem like everyone is an old friend. Patrick is an entertaining bartender so even if its just both of you, you will enjoy, I have already encouraged about 15 of my friends to give up on their current barber or 'stylist' and give this place a shot. They wont regret it. This is a great place Sean has built. Pros: Great atmosphere and great barber more

This is a great place 12/22/2009

Sean Gormley really knows how to run a business. He can not only give you a perfect haircut, but he will also have a pint of Guinness or Smithwicks there for you in the pub that's adjacent to the barber shop prior to or after you sit down in the chair. Patrick the bartender pulls a mean Guinness at this perfectly legal and licensed facility; there are bottled domestics, pop, juice and water also available. Now about the haircuts: whatever it is that you want, Sean and his fellow barber Darren can deliver it. They are equally adept at clean-cut, classic styles and the longer, shaggier styles that a lot of younger people go for today. If you stop in at the Irish Barber's you'll get a great haircut and a great pint. You won't be disappointed. Pros: Great haircuts; great beer more

Great Service!! 10/21/2008

When my son was 3 years old and in need of a haircut, I quickly realized he wouldn't sit still for anyone. Frustrated with the reluctance of area barbers for just cutting my screaming, wiggly son's hair, my stepfather suggested I take him to his barber, The Irish Barber. He explained that he had gotten his hair cut there for years and that Sean could get that hair cut, no problem. It was then that My step-father and my son started going to Sean every other month for a haircut. He was right, Sean got that hair cut without question! It became a tradition for my son and stepfather to go to Sean and when my stepfather passed away in June of 2007, Sean came to his wake! What a great man Sean the barber, as my son calls him, is and I take Ryan there to get his hair cut to this day! I recommend The Irish Barber to everyone because Sean provides service that is comfortable and kind. No wonder he has such loyal customers!!!! Pros: Awesome service, comfortable setting Cons: No cons! more

Best barber on the west side-guaranteed. I will get my hair cut here forever. 2/10/2007

Best barber on the west side! Sean creates a family-friendly environment for the young ones and a great barbershop experience for the older guys (I'm 27 and could watch ESPN and read the paper or a magazine.) He's funny, upbeat and even provides free doughnuts and coffee. I have tried three barbers before this one (two in Lakewood, one in Rocky River) over the past six months and the Irish Barber dominates them with regards to service, quality and personality. Cuts are the same price as any other barber in the area ($15-16) and he gets you in and out in 15 minutes. A very popular location, arrive early to ensure your spot in line. Pros: Friendly, Fast, Competitive Pricing Cons: Lots of customers (is that really a negative?) more
