We have visited just about every Irish pub in the area, and the 4P's has become the "local" for my husband and me, a term of endearment that anyone from the UK will recognize. We walk from Arlington into Falls Church to visit this neighborhood pub and restaurant when we need an evening out -- be it to celebrate, to mourn and raise a glass to the dear departed, or just to relax.
The food is Irish and American. You can eat light or hearty, and you won't find a better fish and chips in the Washington area. The "Kerry Gold" turkey reuben is another favorite. The music can be good or mediocre, but it never overwhelms your conversation. The beer, of course, is well pulled. I'm a black-and-tan gal myself.
It's large enough to easily host large dinner groups -- we've had as many as 18 -- or even larger special events in the bar. Kids are always welcome (and will love the imported orange soda), and you'll see many families gathering three or more generations around a table.
They also do a bountiful Sunday brunch. Wednesday is quiz night.
Slainte!
