I had a particular tricky lift that I needed for my driveway. Troy came out and bid it and said they could take care of it. I said great, regardless I want to be there before your guys start so that we can make sure this is something that will work and not make it worse. Fast forward to the day they were to come out and I didn't get a call until after they had already started and they were calling to say they weren't going to be able to do what they said they could. I went out and not only could they not fix it THEY MADE IT WORSE!
The one area of driveway they were lifting cracked more and a another slab (that was intact) was now in pieces! Plus a portion of my side walk had slid 3 inches to form a tripping hazard. When I contacted the company and said this wasn't acceptable I was told "we have costs to cover what do you want us to do?" After agreeing to pay for half the job to cover his "costs" I waited for the revised invoice in the mail so I could pay it. Three months passed by and I assumed they felt bad and took care of the bill all together only to get an invoice in the mail for the full amount. After receiving the same invoice, I called the owner, Fred, and asked him to come look at the bad job that was done and that surely he would agree that I shouldn't be paying full price if anything at all. He came out, ho hummed about the bad job the company did and said "well let me know go back and see what I can do." Again I didn't hear anything from them for about three months only to get a certified letter from their attorney demanding full payment plus attorney fees!! He never called after he came over, never once said anything about an invoice due and out of the blue I get a letter from their hound dogs! After calling "Fred" again to explain the situation, he insisted he "needed to cover costs and what do you want me to do about it?" I agreed to pay him half the amount to get him off my back.
