Horrible food and rude service 3/27/2011

Absolute worst experience in Durham yet. The shawarma was horrible. Both my friend and I stopped eating it half way through out of disgust. When I told the owner I was very disappointed in the food and how dry the chicken was, he angrily threw the shawarma I had brought to the counter into a trash can meters away. Then stared at me like I was in the wrong. more

The BEST! 10/6/2010

You can tell there's love in the food here. I've been going here for 13 years and it's always good. Falafel is so good I order 2, but can never finish both. The sage tea or the Lebanese coffee is just what you need to get your creativity flowing. The knaffe and baklava are made with such care and love. These people have so much passion in their food, you can taste the difference. Only rule is to eat it the way it's prepared (fair enough). I drive up from downtown to eat here twice a week. I'm not sure if you can still smoke hookahs in there or not, but if so, you can lay down 10-20 bucks down and get all the flavoured smoke you can Boge. If you're an artist of any kind in Durham and you haven't tried International Delights, do yourself a proper and give it a try. more

I was treated terribly!! 4/8/2010

I went into this restaurant to order some lunch one afternoon. After placing my order and receiving my food, I politely brought it to the owner and managers attention that my order was incorrect. I informed them that I could not eat salt because I was nine months pregnant and it would cause me to swell up. Both of them rudely told me that that was not what I asked for and they told me I needed to take my food and leave. I told them I couldnt eat that. It was at that point the female manager started yelling at me and throwing the receipt in my face telling me that is not what I ordered. She then went on to take the next customer, while I was standing there in shock of how she was talking to me. After she realized I was not leaving she snatched my food back, gave me my money, and ordered me to leave and never return again!! Everyone behind me in line was very upset with her attitude and a few people walked out behind me. I am very dissappointed at how I was treated, especially at nine months pregnant. Pros: OK Fast Food Cons: Terrible Customer Service more

After 8 years of eating there... I'm finished 12/4/2008

The owner's attitude was, at first, amusing fodder for fun names like ""L-Ebenezer Scrooge."" However, I'm sick of being treated like I'm imposing on him by ordering his (about $3 over-priced) food. The man needs to stay home or at least at the back table where his hateful glare doesn't accompany money transactions. If there was other Mediterranean food in the area I would have stopped going sooner. Pros: Food Cons: Owner more

Great food from East Africa 7/5/2008

This is a nice place with good food. I was served beef, spinach and rice. The beef was very tender. The samosas were great also. Pros: Good food that is a good representation of East African food. Cons: It could be missed if you are driving past it. more

""The Best"" fantastic shwarma 11/19/2006

The menu may not be as large as fancier places, but what International Delights does, they do really well. The shwarma is filling, the vegitarian falafel isn't greasy at all, and the ""american"" alternatives are good--I'm told, I always stick to the middle eastern delights. Not many people stick around to eat in house, but when you have time, enjoy the traditional middle eastern tea with your meal. They'll bring it out to you still in the teapot, with fresh herbs simmering in it. The place has been family run for a long time. Watching the kids grow up has been an added treat. Pros: authentic middle eastern more
