Beware of reservation policy 7/22/2010

I made a reservation online for my visiting parents because the location was close to our home and the price was right for a Sat. night, $74.00 and check-in was easy for them. The room was nice and fit the purpose and they said the free breakfast was good even though I was told later by a member of the East Fort Worth Business Association that the breakfast is catered in, not cooked on premises. At check-in my parents asked the front desk if they decided to stay an extra night would that be a problem. The girl told them it would not be a problem at all but to let her know by noon the next day.The maid was very nice to provide extra towels as I brought their grandchildren there for an evening swim with their grandparents after dinner at the well known and nearby Mexican Inn Restaurant. The next morning after breakfast my mother told the clerk they would be staying another night. My dad checked out the next morning but when he got home he noticed he was charged $10 more for the second night. He called to inquire and was told that the second night was not made with a reservation online and because my mother told the front desk it was $10 more. They were never told this when they asked about staying over a second night and if he had known this he could have made the reservation right there from his laptop. What a scam this was even though it was just $10.00!! Remember this if you decided to stay extra nights at this place. I might also mention that the pool maintenance has a lot to be desired. When I took my children for a swim with their grandparents I was hesitant to let them swim as the water was cloudy and there was a thick film of scum all along the tiles at the water line.I didn't say anything about it as my parents were enjoying their time with their grandchildren but it did not go un-noticed by me because of all the published reports about pool closings last year in Fort Worth due to a bacteria which made many adults and children very ill and some deaths reported. The property managers certainly need to address the pool maintenance issues. They also need to do something about the smell that lingers in the hallways of the buildings. Their room smelled fine but when entering the hallways it smelled like an un-neutered male cat had left his strong spray of urine. Very pungent odor. I will not have my parents stay at this hotel again on their next visit for sure but as far as a good place to just rest for the night, it is sufficient. Pros: Good Breakfast Cons: Shady Policies/Dirty Pool more
