""Needs loyalty, better service, and hair stylist that listen.""This past Christmas after a year of not being able to afford to do my hair I went to Ingrid's hair salon. I had been going to Mao for three years and a few weeks before Christmas I made an appt but was appointed to someone else by mistake. The hair session went well but wasn't exactly what I had wanted. Waiting a week later I had then went to Mao, asking for the ombere. What Mao gave me was grown out roots and a blow dry I did not like at all. Unable to take photos during Christmas and had to wait for a redo hair session days later he not only mistreated me and dried out my hair, the color was only a bit better. I had to address Mao and tell him I could no longer be his client. No less Ingrid's charged me $50 for the ""blow dry"". I was hurt and insulted after three years of going! more

Go to Grow! 7/7/2010

Grow, yea that's his real name! He sits closer to the front and when I went in asking for get died, cut and blown, I was directed to Henry. He said that he didn't want to do anyhting because he was confused with what I was asking, he pretty muchc refused me. I happened to have glanced at Grow, and mubbled something like"" I can't believe I'm being rufused service"", he asked sweetheart what is it that you want?"" I told him, he gave a few suggesstions, and said he'd take me. I cam out gorgeous, and I flaunted my blown hair in front of Henry so that he would see how fab it all came out. \r \r I don't want to pick on Henry, but he seems not to be too much of a pro, and the Salon should be aware of this, and maybe give him some training. Grow is knows his stuff. more

WORST Hair Salon!!!!! 6/28/2010

To make a long story short, my sister and I had an appointment with Henry for highlights and a cut, I brought in a picture of what I wanted and my sister asked for a trim. He proceeded to highlight and color our hair leaving the chemical on my sister too long, she now has a burned scalp and chunks of her hair have broken off, he took 3 inches off her hair with a razor and my hair did not remotely resemble the picture -- I called the salon and was told to come in so it could be fixed. Note: I never like my hair at the salon as the lighting there is awful, hence me leaving. Upon fixing my hair they put a chemical in it that made it turn purple. I was told by Elsie (the owner) -- after Henry denied it was purple -- that the purple would fade in a few days. At this point, I was furious and asked for my money back and was told, ""no way"" and that he didn't care what I looked like because he didn't know what I wanted, did I mention that I brought in a picture. They wouldn't even fix my sisters hair and when asked for her money back they snickered and said, ""No, we can't do that."" I walked out of the salon in tears, with purple hair and a bad haircut. Also, they always wash your hair with cold water and when you tell them it's cold they act surprised. \r \r I have always been satisfied even elated with the outcome of my hair at Ingrid's and never had a problem with the salon. Elsie knows me very well and refused to completely fix the problem. I am writing this not to start a revolt but to inform those in the past who I recommended the salon (particularly Henry) to. As for me I will not be going back to Ingrid's, as I was disgusted with the way I was treated. Pros: Open Space Cons: Rude hairdressers, always late for appointments, bad lightin more

love the enviroment 6/30/2009

Ingrids salon is the best aroung the area, the staff are great, i have been getting my hair done, make up for special occasions, and my nails all the time. i've been going to ingrids since i was 12!! when they were located on 74st.\r I have gotten my nails done by 3 of the manicurist there . they are all great! i see Cristina about every 2 weeks for my nails, she is very profesional, i always get completed about my nails and my pedicures, they last a long time. my hair is always done either by Fernando or Juliana i can honestly say that i've never had a complaint. i've done highlights, color and cut my hair short! (fernando was able to fix a terrible mess a beauty school teacher did to my hair, and he made it 100 times better).\r this is the best place for any service!! Pros: nearby, great services, they do EVERYTHING!! more

!!!!!!!DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON!!!!!!!! 6/4/2009

Do NOT ever go here to have your hair cut or styled!!!! This place is the biggest rip-off in the area and they are NOT TRAINED! \r \r I was getting married so made my appointment w/ a woman two weeks beforehand at the desk who could hardly speak English. ""Mao will take care of you"" she said smiling... \r The Venezuelan ""MAO"" turned up 20 minutes late at 10 to 12pm, began to cut my hair without asking me what I wanted to have done. He began styling it as if I were a MEXICAN bride w/ ringlets and puff - I pulled it off and asked him to begin again. I cried as the clock ticked... He fried, refried and once again fried my hair. He charged me $100 CASH for the styling and the cut (but have receipt.) I ran out of the salon crying at 1.25pm and my car was waiting for me at 1.45 to take me to the church. I have proof how he screwed up my hair on my wedding day. MAO SHOULD BE BANNED FROM EVER CONDUCTING ANY HAIR CUTS OR STYLING!\r I am seriously thinking of suing the salon. Pros: SOMEWHAT CLEAN Cons: ""VENEZUELAN MAO,"" ATTITUDE, TARDY, COCKY APPROACH, $$$$ more

A waste of time and money 12/15/2008

I just moved to the neighborhood and decided to try this place for my weekly manicure/pedicure. It's fair to say this was probably the worst service I've had in a while. Almost every employee (including the lady doing my nails who left me mid-nail polish to take a call) was on their cell phone, lounging about in front of the few customers (it was a Monday afternoon) or cracking jokes for everyone to hear. During my pedicure, she let my feet soak for a total of maybe 5 minutes and used the scrubbing pumice, which is one of the main reasons I go to a salon instead of doing it myself, for less than 10 seconds. She scrubbed so quickly and lightly I didn't even feel it, and usually I'm very ticklish. In the end, she didn't even use the little paper strips between the toes before she applied the nail polish. My manicure was similarly rushed, so much so that now I have air bubbles underneath the polish caused by applying thickened base coat too quickly. To top it all off, there were no pedicure driers at all in the place, only a small portable manicure drier that was on top of the working station. For all of that, she charged me $6 more than what a standard mani/pedi combo in the neighborhood costs (i've been to two other salons in the same three or four blocks) and didnt even give or write a receipt. I will never visit this place again. Pros: Nice open space Cons: Rushed and careless service, employees constantly on their cell phones more
