one of the most ugly restaurant in st.louis. food is bad and the customer service is very bad specially one the waiter, i think he is from bangladesh is very rude with customers and pricing is very different which i don't like like he said the every customer need to purchase $50 minimum mandatory. I think we should not encourage such service and food. more

Decent Indian Food 2/14/2009

Not my favorite Indian food in town, but decent. It's a little expensive but you have to expect that in the CWE. I'm rather fond of their Chicken Tikka Masala. It's not what I would expect from an Indian restaurant, but good. It's rather like a creamy tomato soup with chicken. Pros: decent food Cons: a bit expensive more

Bad customer service 11/9/2008

A large group of us (10+) went to the restaurant hoping to enjoy some quality Indian food. The food was ok, but over priced. When we asked for separate checks, the waiter rudely refused and gave us one check. Then when we tried to individually pay with our credit/debit cards, he told us that we can, as a group, only use up to three cards- which by the way I think may be against some credit card company regulations- probably so that they can save the small credit card fees for the ridiculously expensive food they sell. We were struggling to figure out the payments, and they actually RUSHED us to pay after. Not only that, he rushed our meal by taking away plates just as the last piece of food was put on the fork. We are not going back again. more

Wonderful 1/15/2008

I love indian food and I have tried many Indian restaurants across the US, and India Rasoi in the West End in St. Louis is Excellent and I highly recommend it. Their new restaurant down a block from their old one is very welcoming, beautiful interior design that is warm, cozy and inviting. Our group was seated promtly and we had a wonderful time. The buffet is the best part... High Class/Moderaletly Priced. Even the grandmother came to our table to make sure everyone was doing well. I give it 5 Stars. more

Great food, reasonable prices 9/18/2007

I have been to several Indian restaurants in my time and truly enjoy the food here. I have only had better from the mother of an Indian friend of mine! While the staff may not be overly friendly, they certainly don't go out of their way to be rude either. They have recently moved to a new location on Euclid and I am going again tomorrow! Very reasonably priced and great food. All the reasons I need to keep coming back! more

Good Indian Food in the Central West End 8/24/2007

After reading the other reviews, I was hesitant to go here, but it turned out to be a fabulous place! No the service was not necessarily ""Americanized,"" but they were friendly, helpful, and responsive when asked. I went with my two friends, and we all loved what we got. The naan was very fresh and tasty. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend! Pros: naan, reasonable & authentic Indian food Cons: ambience is pretty basic (but I think they are relocating soon!) more

Hardly authentic and overly creamy 7/30/2007

We went to India's Rasoi once when I was craving Indian food, but what we got was a mess of butter and cream with some naan. The dishes are not authentically Indian, with very little spice and tons of cream added. Also, half the dishes aren't really even true Indian dishes, while the other half are the typical Punjabi fare (paneer, chana masala, etc.). If you're looking for more authentic North Indian food, I would choose House of India on Delmar in U City. If you are looking for good South Indian food, go to Priyaa in Hazelwood. Pros: Reasonably priced; good service Cons: Bland, overly fatty food more

Bad service, good food 6/1/2007

I should start by telling you that I have been to only one or two Indian restaurants in my life so I can't really compare this to anything. I'll start with the good. I ordered the vegetarian dinner and was very surprised at the amount of food and the many types of food to try on my platter. You are served three different dishes in little cups as well as nahn and rice pudding. All of the dishes were extremely good and the bread was fresh. I can see why some would complain about the overuse of cilantro, but it is one of my favorite herbs so I'm have no such complaints. That said, the service was terrible. It took me 5 minutes to even catch someone's eye after I walked in the door to be seated (I almost left); then I was left alone for about 10 minutes with a menu (no drink order taken). When the waiter finally took my order, he did not even hint at a smile and maybe said a total of 10 words to me the entire time all related to taking my order. After he dropped my food off, I did not see him until my bill came; he almost looked as if I were irritating to him, and all I did was order and pay. I may go back here again for the food, but chances are I will venture out and find another Indian restaurant with food that is equally as good and better service (it really couldn't get much worse). Pros: good variety of food, tasty dishes, good part of town Cons: terrible service, rude wait staff more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! 8/18/2006

I am a catering manager for a hotel and needed a halal meal for a guest. I ordered it from the clayton location over a day in advance, called to verify the 2nd day, called before I left the hotel to pick up the order on the 3rd day and got NO ANSWER several times! I called and explained the situation to the CWE location and the young man said no problem we'll get it. Cons: Customer service, parking, food quality more

looking for Indian food, try somwhere else 11/11/2005

Have been several times to this place only for the convinience of being close to my place in the CWE area. Had my parents over, we ordered from the menu (it was their first indian) they did not like it, the waiters where rude and it costed us a bundle. Have been back again and ordered from the menu, the food was a little better but still not worth the price. Service has improved somewhat as of lately but I will only go to the lunch buffet which is average quality. Additionally ... for my taste the place has almost no indian atmosphere. Pros: location, lunch buffet Cons: bad service, no atmosphere, expensive more

good indian! 11/1/2005

i've lived in the lou for three years and this is by far the best indian in the city, at least thats affordable. the waiters arent always the nicest but the foods always really good. it gets pretty busy on the weekends so i say go on a week day so you get better service. Pros: food is great, nice date place Cons: not great parking, sometimes bad service more

Tasty lunch buffet! 8/5/2005

This is a great place to go for a quick Indian lunch buffet. The food was very tasty. The chicken tikka masala and yogart are great! The service is attentive and the decor is average for an Indian restaurant anywhere. Sat. lunch before was 9.95. Pros: Great variety, Warm food, Good price Cons: non more

There's much better options... 7/25/2005

One word for this place: mediochre. The atmosphere was fine, but the rest? First and foremost, the service: I was offered numerous refills on my soft drink, and received a bill for every one. That's inconsiderate. They didn't say that refills were extra -- I was shocked. My soft drink bill was as much as my food bill! The food was mediochre. If you like overuse of cilantro, this place is for you. Otherwise, I'd go someplace that gives you a variety of flavors. The two curries on the buffet all tasted the same: salty and with way too much cilantro. The vegetarian dishes tasted exactly the same -- earthy and flavorless. Even the naan wasn't right. It tasted like it was day-old and warmed up in the oven. Pros: Price, Dinner selection, Delivery Cons: No free refills, Lack of variety, Flavor more

Yummy 8/20/2003

Lunch buffet is fantastic! The food is delicious and the staff makes sure the food never runs out. There is always an entree of every meat type and one that is vegetarian. However, the buffet table is small so the selection is limited. You will only find one chicken dish per day. I have yet to eat here for dinner but I am certain the food will be of the same or even better quality. Pros: all you can eat, quick Cons: parking more

Great Place for Vegetarians 1/17/2003

My friends always order the tandoori chicken here but I love the vegetarian items the best... especially the vegetarian platter... you get a great array of items to try. At lunch, they have a very good buffet that is a great deal... but it gets crowded right at noon... go earlier or later. Pros: Reasonable Price, Great Vegetarian Menu, Nice Lunch Buffet more

GREAT food, GREAT buffet 7/1/2002

Perfect for anyone who has never had Indain food, because you can try a little bit of everything. Learn what you like and go back for more. Excellent for the price! more
