If you need a weekend away from it all, check out the Indian Springs Resort in Idaho Springs! The hotel has three different sections to choose from – the old, historic section (where I love to stay), and two newer sections, one slightly nicer than the other. The advantage of the historic section is, of course, that you are right down the hall from everything, but the disadvantage is that the rooms don’t have showers, only sinks and toilets. Still, I think it’s worth it for the old-time feel of the place! The resort has excellent hot springs: the caves, which are accessed from the restrooms, are delightfully steamy, but if you want to go co-ed you’ll need to reserve a private bath, either indoors or outdoors. There is also a pool that is fed with hot spring water, but that is overall much cooler than the caves or private baths. The resort also has an excellent dining room and a cute gift shop, and it’s located just around the corner from a strip of quaint little shops in historic Idaho Springs.
