My wife and I put a down payment for our first house with Lifestyle Homes in Indian Creek. The sales staff was very friendly up front. The biggest thing we liked about Lifestyle Homes was that they offered three sides brick as a standard feature. We were also promised that the house would take about 4 months to build, however they had to put 6 months on the contract in case of uncontrollable circumstances. We asked for a quote on the fourth side brick, and their sales agent wrote up a request for the price of half brick on the back and for full brick on the back. This quote was promised to us in a week, after six weeks, and repeated efforts to get the quote, we had to take a break for our wedding and honeymoon. When we returned from our honeymoon we finally got our quote (2 -3 months later) and the price was outrageous. When we questioned it, they said only the front and the bottom of the sides came standard. We then met with the contractor to question this. We pointed out that all of their sales publications we received in advance said three sides brick, and most importantly our contract stated three sides brick. Their response was it didn't matter because their new plan was for partial brick on the sides. As we pushed them on the contract they got very ugly with us. In addition to this issue with the brick, the 4 month promise on completing the house was completely out the window. As of three months, prior to our discussion about the brick, that house hadn't even been started. We were under the belief that six months would have been a stretch. Finally we requested out of the contract and they gave us our down payment back. However, they have yet to return the money we paid for the upgrades. Our only consulation is that the completed house with partial brick on the sides looks horrible with the colors they used. Bottom line, if you are looking for a new house stay away from Lifestyle Homes, there are plenty of other good builders out there.
