India Palace

I just moved to San Diego 7 months ago, and this has been one of my favorite meals yet, absolutely amazing. Granted I have not lived here very long but I eat out a lot and have not been so impressed by a meal... hence, my 5 star rating. I was here with a party of 8 on a Saturday night and the service was amazing. Our servers could not have been more attentive and helpful with recommendations. The restaurant itself is not overly decorated but definitely looks nice. No complaints there. The food was also out of this world. I was with my girlfriend who has recently traveled to India and she said India Palace is a very gourmet, beautified version of traditional Indian food. Everything I tasted was fabulous. I don't remember exactly what I ate because everyone was sharing but here are some of the highlights:samosas,chicken pakoras,chicken tikka masala,lamb,lobster,aloo gobhi,saag paneer,biryani rice,garlic naan,and mango kulfi(ice cream) and gulab jamun were a perfect way to end the meal. I will definitely be returning! more

LOVE this place. i've been here a few times, as there are a lack of indian restaurants in my 'hood. found it here on yelp a while ago, and thought i'd try it out. yelpers, you did not lead me wrong... food- fresh, spiced to your taste, and just delicious. chapati-awesome, samosas are light and filled perfectly, lamb saag is tender, lamb dhansak is also very good. i've really mostly stuck to lamb, and its always been just great. service- very attentive, friendly service, and they're happy to prepare your dish to your taste. everytime i've been here,i'm satisfied . more

This restaurant has officially taken the top spot on my list of favorite Indian food spots. It's clean, and bright. The owner makes rounds at the table to check on everyone and the wait staff is incredibly friendly. The prices are fair and affordable. The food is the real star here, though. Each dish has great depth of flavor. Sometimes Indian food feels heavy and only one flavor shines through. However, the food we had here had multiple layers of spice and it was fantastic. We had the chicken vindaloo, and the chicken haryalli. This is the kind of place you want to keep secret so you can always get a table but I'd rather they get plenty of business so they can stay open. Try it out! more

Very nice place. Lots of vegetarian options and the food was authentic. Oh, the portions were HUGE. We had dinner there and parking wasn't a problem. We ordered Channa masala, Naans, Daal, and Saag Paneer. Everything was very good especially the saag paneer, which was so good that we ordered an extra order of it to go. The service was excellent. All in all it was a great place and we'll definitely come back again if we are in the neighborhood. more

I can't believe I haven't done this sooner! I have been obsessed with Passage to India for at least the past year. It is seriously an amazing treat for your tastebuds. The Saag Paneer is probably the best dish I have ever eaten. It is difficult for me not to eat here at least 3 times a week. It is a vegetarians dream. The staff is extremely cool.Very polite....Best service. more

This is by far the best Indian food in San Diego. I come here all the time and always order the mix appetizer, the Chicken Haryalli, and the Prawn Masala. They also have a great of breads such as the onion kulcha and aloo paratha. more

They make excellent garlic and plain naan. The samosas come great with their sauces. Great tasting masalas as well. Usually order carry out the wait a tiny bit long but its worth the wait if you're craving good Indian food. more
