This is our go to place for the best East Indian cuisine. We've had the pleasure of eating there since it opened. The small atmosphere is quiet and welcoming. Food is served promptly and can be customized for your taste i.e. level of heat. It has definitely spoiled us. Eating in other such restaurants here and out of town just do not compare on any level as far as taste, service, and atmosphere. Don't miss this one! more

This restaurant is a family fun place with fantastic family recipes that are always scrumptious.\r The service is very friendly and efficient. The vegetarian menu is very long and the meat dishes all fall in specific categories including lamb dishes besides the chicken, beef and pork categories. \r The sauces include masala, korma, and vindaloo and they are all authentic. The restaurant itself is very cozy with music and decor from India and the over all experience is very homey. I love this place and the Thali combination plates will help the undecided person sample several dishes at the same time. There are several combination plates to choose from. One will feast in this place and will never go away unsatisfied. I love it! more

I've been visiting this restaurant since 1995, and every visit has always been consistently wonderful. The quality of the food is second to none. They're always good, and the service is always excellent. Nothing on their menu is a disappointment. I highly recommend the chicken tikka masala...and the rice pudding for dessert. more

Wonderful sophistication in the spices, especially the tandori chicken and the vegetarian korma. Please NEVER go to the route of so many great Indian restaurants who at some point decide to substitute their unique seasonings with salt. This has been the downfall of too many establishments. more

If you want authentic East Indian cuisine, India Kitchen offers the best in all of NM hands down. Nowhere else compares. Take your time reviewing the full menu of delectables and ask your waiter/waitress for explanations to appreciate the differences in sauces and preparations. My best experiences have been with friends, when we order several dishes to share and sample among the table. You'll want to come back for more, and more. more

We've been eating regularly @ India Kitchen since 1986 and the food is always fantastic. It's on par with indian restaurants in the United Kingdom! more

Can't wait to get back to ABQ for more of India Kitchen 3/4/2011

When I'm in Albuquerque, I will *always* eat at India kitchen at least once and I will sometimes call for a takeout order of Aloo Parantha. My husband loves their Bahrta. My favorite is probably their Aloo Gobi, but I also love their Sag and I can't go there without getting an order of Parantha. If you want Indian Food, you want India Kitchen. more

Best food in town! 12/27/2009

This charming "" hole in the wall"" indian restaurant has been family owned, and operated for almost 30 years, now if that doesn't say something about their overall quality, im not sure what will. My family and I have been eating at india kitchen my whole life,( literally) and i think it is one of Albuquerque's best kept secrets. Although it may be a little hard to find it is totally worth it! The food there is excellent, not to mention they are more than happy to cater to just about any dietary restriction imaginable ( vegan, gluten free, any type of allergy, spice level, etc) The menu is filled with reasonably priced vegetarian dishes, and a variety of meat dishes. The owners, as well as the staff are very friendly. The service is always fast, and wonderful! If you live in albuquerque, and enjoy indian food, this is the perfect place for you! Pros: small, cozy, great food, and wonderful service! Cons: they are only open for dinner more

Sad excuse for Indian cuisine! 12/23/2009

The food had everything except for taste... They used stale oil to fry pappads and the food did not have any spice, salt and it was less than amateurish. I'm not a good cook by any scale, but I'm sure I can cook better. Avoid this place... remove it from your GPS's POI if you can. I would rate it less than 1 if it was possible! If you want Indian food please find another place, if not 'Stay hungry my friend!' Pros: Good treasure hunt... (to find the place) Cons: The reward is less than rewarding! more

India Kitchen is the best and josh69 is bogus. 12/16/2009

The India Kitchen restaurant is the best there is in Albuquerque with food that is made in a style different than the food in the larger Indian restaurants that all seem to have cooks \r coming out of the same indian crusine school.\r India Kitchen has a chief who obviously loves\r cooking family style receipies in a family style\r restaurant straight out of India. I have eaten saag paneer, dals, and gulab juman in India and this place absolutely serves the most authentic\r that I have ever eaten in this town. Pros: Unique, delicious food and cozy place. Cons: Not open for lunch. more

Best Indian in ABQ 7/13/2009

If you are looking for some delicious Indian food in Albuquerque, India Kitchen is clearly the only choice. It is a hole in the wall place with a great atmosphere, and even better food. (And they are really good at working with your food alergies!!!) I recomend the spicy lamb or chicken vindaloo, or the creamy chicken tikka masala for a meat dish. Or the spinach kofta or the mutter paneer for veggie dishes.\r Oh and dessert is worth the stay... The kheer is to die for, not to mention the other desserts.\r GO AND ENJOY!!! Pros: Atmosphere, Varied Menu, Something for everyone Cons: Hidden (but worth looking for) more

Indian Fusion delight@Albuquerque's oldest Indian Restaurant 6/30/2009

The India Kitchen is a hole in the wall restaurant that is some what hard to find for first time customers, but it is well worth the search. It has a mom & pop kind of vibe, and the focus is clearly on the flavor. Everything is served family style, and the dishes taste fresh, and surprisingly light, considering how oily some Indian food can be. Despite not having a buffet, the prices for dinner are quite reasonable, and the portions are big enough that it is often hard to save room for dessert. However if you do make it through your meal still hungry for more i would try the gulab jamun, my personal favorite. There is only one in an order, but it is bigger then they are traditionally, and are topped off with coconut. I would definitely recommend India Kitchen to anyone in Albuquerque looking for some good ethnic food. Pros: Fresh, Customizable Spice levels, Good Value, Great service Cons: Hard to find, Limited hours, no buffet more

avoid at all cost!! 7/30/2008

This is the worst ""indian"" food I have eaten my entire life. I have eaten over 200 restaturants throughout the United States and by far this is the bottom of the barrel. The spices are all off. The service is terrible, the food was clearly left overs from the day before. If you want real indo/Pak food, go to India Palace on wyoming and Montgomery. They really know their stuff there. more

Great Food 1/16/2006

The India Kitchen is definately not your normal Indian Restaurant. It is extremely unique with several vegetarian, non vegetarian, as well as Seafood. There are all the classic indian dishes, but there are also other special dishes with an Indian Twist. I would recommend this restaurant over other restaurants, especially if you want to try different meats and vegatables with an indian twist. more

This place is terrible! The food tastes like some amateur kitchen experiment- the flavors just don't blend together and the spicing is way way off. The ingredients are really cheap tasting too. I keep trying India Kitchen, in hopes that they improve, but it hasn't happened over the course of the last 8 years! I have had Indian food in many cities and countries, and none have been this bad. Cons: Food more

Delicious Food! 1/31/2003

I've eaten in quite a few Indian restaurants in the US and in other countries. The food here is delicious and compares favorably to the best Indian restaurants I've been in. The food is much better than the more pricey Indian restaurants I've tried in Albuquerque. Pros: Great Value, Friendly Service more

Nothing special 9/8/2002

I am a visitor to NM and so the first thing I had to do was to find an Indian restuarent. I found this one from my GPS Point of interest. Called them up, and ordered some food. DO not order TO GO FOOD, or tell them not to mix the order with the rice in the same box. The food was not that bad either. more
