I had a virus that would pop up a Microsoft security essentials false alert. I researched on the internet and learned it is a common virus but I am not at the level needed to remove it. I brought it to Impulse with the assurance it can be removed. No mention at this time of ""80% chance we can successfully remove it"" just that they can do it. I came back the next day after they called and said it was fixed. I brought it home after paying $69 plus tax and after a few minutes found it to be exactly the same. I called the store and talked to the owner I dealt with when I dropped it off and picked it up. That is when he explained they are only 80% successful in removing virus'. But that he would wipe out my hardrive after removing all my programs, and reinstall the programs and I would have a new computer for $150. I pointed out I paid $70 already and got zero for it. Would they deduct what I paid from the normal charge of $150? No, they would deduct half.. Honestly, had he pointed out from the start that he was only 80% confident he could fix my problem, and if not, I would have to pay an additional $150, I might have went with the sure thing at $150 to begin with, but to pay $70 for them to ""try"" just doesnt cut it. I will find someone else from now on.
