I am a recent transplant to Acton. Scott has been very fair and reasonable in repairing my familys cars. I highly recommend him for servicing, more

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/13/2013

I have been bringing my family’s two cars to Import Domestic for a couple of years, and had been generally satisfied with the work done. Unfortunately, my last experience was poor and as a result I will never be returning. I took my car, a 2002 BMW 330ci, in for a blower fan issue, which turned out to be condensation in the wiring. After fixing the issue, my wife and 70 year old mother went to pick it up after hours as I had just had back surgery and was hesitant to drive. When my wife got in the car she discovered that the seat had been moved almost all of the way back, and she was unable to move it forward. After 20 minutes of trying different things they left the car where it was and drove 30 minutes home. The next day I was told that the wiring under the seat was the issue, which would be several hundred dollars to repair. The issue was blamed on a CD case under the seat, which seemed odd to me given that the CD case had been under the seat for 10 years without any issues despite me moving the seat around all the time. I know for a fact that the seat had been working the day I brought the car in as I had adjusted it (I had been using an ice pack in my car for my back and would move the seat back when doing so). Even if the CD case had been involved it was clearly the action of one of the mechanics moving the seat way back that actually broke it. After repairing the seat I drove down with my mom after hours to retrieve the car, after calling to let them know I would be coming, and asking that the car be left out in front. Unfortunately, the car was not left out in front and another customer apparently had dropped their car off, blocking my car. So after trying unsuccessfully to call Scott, the owner, for 20 minutes we drove the 30 minutes home, again. I was finally able to retrieve my car the next day. \r \r I thought about calling Scott to talk about my overall experience but decided I would rather post this review to various web sites (given that he could not be bothered apologizing for my inability to retrieve my car).\r more

I am new to Acton (lived in town for 4 years). I found these guys in the Action about a year in and have been taking both my car and my wifes car to them. I have developed a great relationship with Scott. He has always taken the time to go out into the shop with me and show me the problems with the cars. I think this place is the best - honest and great price. more

I took my car there for repair, and the cost of the repair was chipper than dealer, they said. But, I don't believe it after my car was fixed because they broke my car. They were expensive for the work, and the quality of their works were very cheap. Some worker's attitude was rude too. more

Most of the 'good' reviews on here are fraudulent. Owner created or employee created. Do not be fooled, this place is fraudulent and a rip off! more

Super job!! 11/28/2011

Took in a 2000 Passat to have the passenger side exhaust flex pipe fixed. The dealership wanted to replace the entire pipe along with the catalytic - a $1500 job. IDAC cut out the old leaky portion and welded in a new section, replacing a few brackets. Total cost was $300. I took a look at the work while it was on the lift. It looked excellent. They applied rust preventative coating on all parts and the welds looked clean and solid. I wish I had gone to these guys when I needed the control arms replaced. more

Great service! 2/27/2011

I was a cold and snowy morning when I noticed that I had a flat tire. I pulled into Import Domestic Auto Ctr. I wasn't sure if anyone could help me...To make a long story short, I was out of there within an hour. They had a tire that fit my car. I was so pleased with the out come, I know bring my car their to be serviced. more

spooky service 10/27/2010

Want to hear a spooky story? Today approached the time for our car's oil change. I had a meeting at 8.30 in Import Domestic Auto Ctr, on Central St, in Acton. In the morning the rain was strong, and I had driven over and ran across to the garage. Scott - or so this person was called, he has a beard - took the keys to move the car from place to place. I accidentally parked directly in front of the entrance of the garage (remember? it was rain and no clients at the door!). In an hour the car was ready. When I got it back, I told him that I had a coupon for an oil change. Scott answered that he had already printed a price sheet. I told him that it is not so hard to reprint a price sheet. He said ""yes? Are you sure? Go ahead and show me how to do it"". I told him that I work in customer service and I know that it doesn't cost anything (buy the way, when you usually give coupons to register clerk? right before you swipe your credit card, right? not at entrance, never). He told me that he won't reprint the price sheet and that I should pay the full price, without the coupon. I asked him to contact his manager. He started SHOUTING that he is the manager. Then, when I asked him to apologize for his rude behavior, he answered that I should apologize for parking the car directly in front of the entrance that morning and that he had to move it ( I was his first and only customer so far, as the garage was empty! and the people there weren't doing anything). So I told him, ""OK, I apologize; now it’s your turn"". He told me that he will not apologize, and asked what I wanted from him. I said that I wish to talk to his chief. He answered, ""If it is necessary to YOU, YOU call!” while poking me with his dirty finger. On my honor, I tell you that nobody has ever talked to me like this in US! Then he threw a price sheet at my face and told me to take the car free of charge. Again, I asked him to call his chief. Then he sat down at the computer and printed a new price sheet, including the discount for the coupon. At the same time, he was sniffing loudly, and crumpled and threw out three sheets of paper. I understood that he was very angry at me. Then I paid for the oil change at the new price, and said ""thanks"" and ""have a good day"" to him. He kept his mouth locked. My family - my husband and I - we are using this garage for the second year now. Service was always very good. The chief - the tall man - is always very polite and attentive. They have done a lot of good to our cars. What happened today? I do not know. Perhaps, Scott slept badly at night, or he had a colic. Either way, his manner of conversation, his behavior, and his relationship to the client today was awful, horrible, unacceptable, and absolutely nonprofessional. Why they keep sending their coupons all over the town? The only thing that can explain his behavior is that today is four days away from Halloween. If he wanted to scare me, he succeeded. To me this is terrible. I am scary now to get next appointment for our second car. I think I'll never ask them again to help me with my car, change car's oil, etc. I do not want for someone to talk like THAT to me, even if it is a mechanic. Now I will stay away from Import Domestic Auto Ctr, on Central St, in Acton, MA. more

(SEE EDIT BELOW)\r I saw some good reviews, and thought I'd give this place a shot - and am now very sorry I did.\r \r - Parts were obtained from local dealerships, and then marked up further. Parts were extraordinarily expensive. Expect markup of over 150% of what you'd pay for the part if you got it.\r \r - Labor rate was also rather high.\r \r Auto repair should not require a loan to complete. Ouch. \r \r EDIT - They called me the next day to say that they had accidentally overcharged me by $100 on the starter. I appreciated the honesty enough to revise my review. :) He knew I was from out-of-state, and I'd already paid - I never would have expected even the phone call, let alone the refund... more

above and beyond 6/24/2008

i have been a customer of scott's for many years, for those interested in why i continue to use his service, it's simple: Everytime my car needs work, he calls me down shows me the problem, shows me the solution and repairs it. He always saves and shows me my old parts and explains why they failed. No one else has ever taken the time to show me so much and educate me. more

Great Service and prices 6/6/2008

I agree with the other reviewers, I have been taking my cars there for about a year, and have received great service and had them solve some tricky problems that my dealer was unable (or unwilling) to fix.\r \r I highly reccommend more

Fraudulent 5/7/2008

I would not recommend this garage to my worst enemy. Not only did they have my car for over a month, they were absolutely never procactive with any information. I had to call several times a week, just recieve a ridiculous excuse. Then finally after I decided to have a ""rebuilt"" transmission put in, as opposed to a used one(his suggestion), the car was done. Although, it was never suggested to me to buy the rebuilt transmission, it was myself begging for the car and looking for options. And of course it turned out, I was duped into thinking I actually paid for a rebuilt transmission. When in fact I paid for a used transmission. That was confirmed by my new mechanic. I would stay as far away as possible from this garage, unless you enjoy having your car being repaired for a long time, and not getting you paid for. more

They saved me a lot compared to the dealer 10/19/2007

My Toyota Camry was leaking to beat the band. I took it to the dealer on 2A and they told me it would be over 1400 to fix it and that I should just get a new one because the car wasnt worth it. I found it funny because the whole sales pitch on the Camry is that they go 2 or 3 hundred thousand. I started looking through the Action Unlmited and found the ad for Import Domestic - a lot of good coupons - so I gave them a shot. The estimate cam in at 525 for what the dealer wanted to do! I had the job completed a few weeks ago and it cam out perfect. I recommend and will be back! Pros: saves lots of money over dealer - knowledgable staff Cons: small waiting room more

Great service on Audi and Infiniti 3/7/2007

In a nutshell - Great service and great prices from a group of decent down to earth guys.\r Great shop! Pros: great prices - alot less than dealer, great explaination of problems and solutions Cons: parking can be tight more

great honest car service on my family cars - Honda - SAAB and Audi 1/10/2007

After loosing my shirt at the local SAAB dealer and being told that if I didnt like the bill I could take my car \r somewhere else - I did just that. Thank goodness I found Scott at Import Domestic. \r I dont normally write reviews but he has saved us SO MUCH MONEY on car service, I thought that I should put it out for everyone in the area - the estimates are accurate and reasonable and he is a really decent guy to deal with - I highly reccommend!!\r \r Pros: Price, Service, Ability, Attitude, Fairness Cons: I wish there were more of them! more
