Great Place for Horses and Family 7/12/2011

I have kept my horses @ IEC for 4 years. The alfalfa is good. The owners and help are very helpful. My horses love them. I have recently move to the sister barn Whittier Narrows Equestrian Center. Because of the great service I have gotten from IEC. They r both great places to keep your horses. more

What a dump- oh and be sure to visit the neglected horses 5/23/2011

WOW what a dump! I went by to research as a potential place for my daughter to take lessons. I walked the facilities and also watched a few lessons. One trainer on site has some amazing horses and is clearly a world class rider. It was great to watch him. I watched another trainer giving a little girl jumping lessons- the horse refused and the poor girl got dumped. She mus have been about 10 and started crying. The instructor came over an started YELLING at her to get back on. Oh- and if you stop by be sure to visit the 'back' area. Where there are about a dozen miniature horses who have no shelter from sun or rain in their TINY little pipe corrals. There are also some driving horses and a friesian who's feet look so bad. All of these animals haven't been groomed in so long that they each have clumps of winter coat all over their backs. What kind of stable owner would allow such neglect. SHAME on YOU. more

IEC: Nicest Stable in the LA area 12/13/2008

I have been boarding at Imperial Equestrian Center for the last 4 years. It is a wonderful place to board. The owners, Joel and Shona, are helpful and friendly. If you have a problem with anything Joel and/or Shona will do their best to remedy the situation. The other boarders, for the most part, are just as friendly and courteous. I have never had to wait for an arena. Speaking of arenas, the turn-outs are plentiful and the footing is great. more

Imperial Equestrian Center is the place to be 12/11/2008

I was on the internet and came across this review of Imperial Equestrian Center. According to the review this is not the place to be. I don't think so. I rode there for many years and still stop by to visit my friends and the place looks great if not better. I first started riding many years ago and I owe it all to Shona. As a very green rider I found it difficult to sit straight and stay balanced, with constant encouragement and patient instruction from Shona, I was on my way. At my first show a year and a half later, I got a BLUE ribbon. Wow, can you believe it! She's a great trainer and I learned a great deal from her. Still showing to this day. In regards to the property itself, it's always being upgraded. In the last couple years I've seen grooming racks and barns upgraded. The grass is still green and when I visit with my friends, they let their horses graze together while we catch up on old times. While visiting, my friends tell me about the new footings in arenas and they look really great. On a recent visit, I noticed the turnouts looked bigger and the grounds were really clean. The place looks busier than ever and the management is helpful and nice. Joel has always been really nice to me every time I've visited. A lot of new faces, but the same home feel. If only I was able to move back to the area, I would definitely board here at Imperial Equestrian Center again. This is definitely the place to be! A piece of the country in the middle of the City. Pros: Clean, friendly boarders and management, and nice arenas more

some things are not always as they seem . 6/15/2008

I recently bought mysef my first horse, and I was looking at the barns in the local southbay areas .I came upon Imperial by chance and stopped in to take a look.I could not find the owners so I spoke with some of their borders and walked myself around . The place look nice, not like in PV but it was not an eye sore.besides the big factory it boarders and the power lines cutting through and the highway right there . I thought the indoor barns looked rather nice and they made good use of the little sace they do have . However , the shavings in the stalls seemed very low and the footing in the ""main""? arena was horrid Their selections of jumps were run down and unmanaged . I found alot of what looked like uncared for horses in the stalls near the factory . long feet, bad coats skin and bone .Then I took a walk to the back lot , where I found a dirty ""petting zoo"" filled with animals someone should call help for ? Pros: indoor barns are nice Cons: shavings dust condition pollution fotting round pen more

Great Lessons and Friendly Place 5/28/2008

My daughter has been riding for many years and Imperial Equestrian Center has been wonderful. Their prices are great for boarding horse and for lessons. The arenas have been grated and new arenas put up and enlarged. Nice soft sand in all arenas. The largest arena is set up nice for training or jumping. The landscape at the IEC is keep up it has grass alot of the Equestrain do not. There is alittle dust but what place doesn't. They do water down arenas when dust gets to much. The trainers are nice and friendly and help you when you need it. It is a place you need to check out Pros: Prices, Up keep more

Imperial Equestrian Center 1/11/2008

I had my horse at this establishment for 10 years. It is well kept and has a great family atmosphere. There are tack rooms with lockers big enough for 2-3 saddles as well as all other tack. Everyone looks out for each other and the owners are always available for questions. I have seen the owner, Joel, go above and beyond to help his boarders and offer sound advice. Joel and his wife Shona take a personal interest in their boarders and horses and make everyone feel very comfortable. They run a great establishment and I must say that it is one of few establishments that cleans stalls on a daily basis. Joel is constantly upgrading and keeping up all repairs. The landscaping here is beautiful and there are patches of grass to let your horse graze while you relax and visit. Shona is an experienced rider and I have been fortunate to witness her showmanship and must say that her students greatly benefit from all her knowledge. more

Nice pipestall barn but most stalls not great 1/27/2007

There is a very nice pipestall barn. Most stalls had mats which is a perk. Riding arena huge but well used and footing uneven. Many round pens that are in need of better footing. Other stalls are less than optimim. Box stall horses have little or no shavings and are standing in manure and urine with poor ventilation. Several stalls had boards popping out or large holes in the wood or mesh. The place has lights tho many do not work and owners go around and tell you to turn off the lights anyway. The place is very dusty and many of the horses do not have shelter nor clean water. There is also a giant mountain of manure few feet away from horses' stalls. I checked out the hay which seemed dusty and gray in color. I had ridden a horse there years ago and went back to check the place out and can say that it seems in poorer condition. There were also half a dozen dogs running around unleashed. IIt used to be a very nice place! I was disappointed in how it is now. According to a friend that recently moved, the owner Joe is kind of rude and gets mad when people ask him for things. Pros: pipe stall barn Cons: arena footing, location, dogs more
