Great Science Museum 4/9/2006

I recently won the Regional Science Fair competition, and the State competition was held here, at the science center. Basically, during the times when we were not interviewed, we were allowed to stroll through the rose gardens and through the science museum. I have been here a number of times, including when they held the Body Worlds exhibit with my biology class. They never fail to capture my interest and I always leave thinking about the next time I come here. I would definitely recommend this place, especially when they have special exhibits on display for a limited time. more

Great Destination for All Ages Alike! 11/29/2005

The California Science Center is essentially the GREATEST hot spot in the SoCal to have a great time while at the same time learning quite a bit. The Science Center itself is exceptionally enthralling in how fun it makes learning otherwise drab subjects. Also, lets not forget the Imax Theatre! The shear experience of seeing an a video of that magnitude ITSELF makes coming a worthwhile experience, but why not add to that the fact that you're watching video FILMED for the big screen, as opposed to going to everyday theatres that simply blow up a low resolution set of film. Either way, you can't stay in the SoCal without coming at least once. more

Science museum downtown 9/26/2005

The California Science Museum is a nice place to take your kids as they get older. The have hands-on learning as well as periodic exhibitions. You can also become a member and make regular vists to save on entrance fees. The last time I was there I saw "Body Worlds", where over 200 real bodies were on display using a new scientific method od preserving bodies without the usual stinky smells. I saw sectionals of bodies, organs, muscles, blood vessels, fetus, old and young people, etc. This description just doesn't give it justice as it is overwhelming to see such precision upclose. This particular exhibition brought tons of crowds, but I thought the museum did a good job of monitoring how many people can go in at any given time. They also have a decent food court onsite. Parking costs $6-8. more

California Science Center 9/25/2005

I love taking my daughter to the California Science Center. I always try to take her places where she will learn new things and this place is one of my favorites. One thing is that it is free so it doesn't cost me anything to take my daughter there. And for another, it inspires her opens up her mind to the world of science. more

California Science Center 9/24/2005

The California Science Center is really a neat place to go for the whole family. They have so many interesting exhibits available that are both fun and educational for kids and adults alike. I particulary like their high wire bicycle that anyone is free to try out. It is awesome to try it and be up there on that wire. more

Not bad if you've got kids 8/23/2005

The California Science Center does have a good location, being right by USC (I know, not always considered to be the best area but the California Science Center is safe). There are many other touristy things to do in the area. The science center itself has an array of exhibits which vary so make sure to call ahead of time to see what is currently on display. They always have a dearth of hands on exhibits which children love. The museum is a great place for kids, and while it is no Smithsonian (sorry, Im from Washington, DC) it is a great place to spend a couple of hours with kids. Fun, entertainment, and educational!! more

Quirky and offbeat Los Angeles spots 8/23/2005

I'm sure you can read about current expositions online, so why don't I tell you what you can find around the Center. Just north of Exposition Park is USC, which has also been the scene of numerous location shoots. I go to USC and I love that it's located right next to Science Museum. The rose garden around the area is relaxing and wonderful. Bunch of large aircraft propped up around the Center look futuristic and cool. The patio in front of the Science Center is also photogenic. As for insides, Science Plaza, ExploraStore and Discovery Rooms will surely entertain your kids and give you a day, full of joy and wonders. more

Science Center 8/21/2005

The California Science Center is a great place to view science related subjects in the past. The science center also has the IMAX theater where you can watch movies about other science topics. There are several activities at the science center such as the artificial rock climbing wall. There is also a McDonald's inside the science center in case you get hungry. more

Neat place! 8/21/2005

This place is so neat! There's tons of stuff for kids to do and play with. So many hands on things that are educational and interesting. They have the normal plaques that explain what's going on, but kids aren't usually interested in hanging out and reading them, so you might want to take the time to pull your kid aside and explain to them what is going on. The place does tours also. And there's a bike on a highwire that you can ride for a few dollars and they take your picture on it and everything. It's scary but fun! There's also an IMAX right next door. I highly recommend going to this place! more

Super Cool 8/20/2005

The California Science Center is a fun place to go to. They have many activities for people to do. They even have an Imax theater where you can watch 3D movies. They have a great gift shop where you can buy really fun stuff. There are games for children to play there also. Also after a day at the Science Center, you can go to McDonald’s which is conveniently located inside. more

california science center 8/18/2005

Unlike many other museums, the Science Center encourages guests to touch just about everything--which means lots of bells and whistles going off. Busloads of kids scamper about the galleries, which feature exhibits on topics ranging from cells to cars. The on-site Imax theater always draws crowds, with its gargantuan screens and inspiring nature flicks. Admission: Free; donations also accepted. parking is $6 more

Science! 8/17/2005

The California Science Center which is located near USC is a great place to go if you want to learn and feel like a kid again. The admission is free and can get pretty crowded especially on weekend afternoons. There are all kinds of exibits and interactive events to play with. There is also an IMAX theater, but I believe you have to pay for that. more

I Love Science! 8/13/2005

I love science because it stimulates the mind and allows you to discover and explore new things from atoms to space this place will dazzle you and amaze you and bring out the sense of adventure in you. The optical lllusions will defy your senses and throw you off balance and best of all its FREE. There are lots of interactive activites that will stimulate your senses. If you have a family dont miss this place. more

fun experience for kids 8/6/2005

You can count on numerous fun, educational, and even hands on exhibits that kids will most definately enjoy. An IMAX theatre is also conveniently located next to/across from the museum. But the downside to such a great museum is that there are tons of people that go--especially students on field trips. It is definately worth the trouble though. more

Fantastic Place to Spend the Day! 7/31/2005

What's not to love about the California Science Center? Well, a few things...but first the things I DO love: LOTS of interesting, educational and FUN hands-on exhibits of interest to kids ages 4+. LOTS of informative, stimulating activities and learning opportunities. CHEAP entertainment- $5 donation is suggested for adult entry. COOL IMAX movies at the theater across the way. Lots of fun and fascinating toys and gifts available in the gift shop, located on the lower level. Don't love: Can be VERY crowded on weekdays with NUMEROUS school groups touring the museum. Many of these are middle-school aged children and, let's face it- times don't change much- they like to goof off as much as we all did on OUR middle school field trips. Can be very worrisome and even nervewracking when you are trying to tour the museum with a four or five year old child and are constantly dodging screaming, pushing, foul-mouthed and largely undersupervised preteens visiting with the school groups. Can also be very difficult to view exhibits on esp. crowded days. Parking is kind of steep at about $8. Remember to bring cash for that! Dicey neighborhood- definitely go in the daytime!!! Overall, your kids are bound to love this place! So many opportunities to learn and explore! more

Very cool exhibits 7/28/2005

Man this place is rad!!! They have all types of crazy exhibits, like the one where they inject plastic into the bodies – guhhhrooossss!!!!! But rad, nonetheless. It’s a perfect place for kids, obviously, but alos has a lot of stuff an adult can do and enjoy. The gift shop is lame, don’t waste your time there. Parking is ample. more

A Highlight of Exposition Park 7/25/2005

Surrounded by neighborhoods with less than stellar reputations, Exposition park doesn't get its fare share of attention as a must-see attraction in Los Angeles. The California Science Center is among the many highlights. They offer a fantastic IMAX screen and have many science-oriented movies playing there. Body Worlds 2 was a recent exhbit that generated a lot of attention but other quality exhibits are rotuniely featured in the spacious and kid-friendly museum. Located just south of Los Angeles' Downtown the drive and parking isn't as bad as you would expect. more
