I can feel spirit of a baker in this recipe 8/8/2011

I see a lot of mixed reviews, but here is my experience. We when out for breakfast on sunday morning. What a beautiful day for a patio, quiet and relax atmosphere surrounded by gorgeous architecture. I absolutely was amazed by service of our waiter Robert, from the way how he introduces menu special I was even more hungry. Fallowing his advise on cappuccino I could not be more happier, fluffy foam with large bubbles looks so good I had to take a picture, its was even better than I thought. I ordered "Uova Alla Benedettina e Polpa Di Granchio" ( oh boy there is whole recipe in this name :) It's a master pice of creative layers of goodness. BOOM! And not to forget best bread ever, I grow up on fresh bread like that. Perfect crust and fluffy dough mixed with olives, I can feel spirit of a baker in this recipe. more

Great deal 7/29/2011

Just went for a quick lunch there and decided on the Vegetable Pizza from the cafe section. For $6.99 I got a delicious, thin crust, burnt in the right places, fresh tasting, perfectly individually-sized (for a big eater like me) pizza with lots of gooey cheese, grilled artichoke hearts, eggplant, zucchini, onions and tomatoes. Great deal for Old Town Pasadena! more

Wish I lived closer 7/25/2011

We were at the Pasadena il Fornaio over the memorial day weekend and had an amazing dinner. Our server went out of his way to accomodate our food sensitivities. They have an extensive wine list which we found to be right up our alley. Great Italian wines you can sometimes only find in Italy. Our meal from appetizer to dessert was excellent. Wish I lived closer to this location. I'll try more Il Fornaios because of this experience. more

I love the outdoor patio here 7/13/2011

I love the outdoor patio here. It is so beautiful next to the fountain, and very peaceful. I'm always feel a warm welcome when I dine here. Most of the pasta dishes I've tried are made in house, like the gnocchi and raviolis. I always bring friends here, because the prices are reasonable, the ambiance is good, the service is excellent, and the food is yummy! Oh, and let's not forget about the endless bread baskets. I have to say that out of every restaurant in this city, they have the best bread ever. It's fresh, it's warm and you get a bunch of different types of breads, from grissini (bread-sticks) olive and rosemary rolls and thick country Pugliese bread. more

I am from the Bay Area, so when i come to L A i always make sure that stop in Il Fornaio for a comfortable, consistent dinning experience. Makes me feel like I'm still in Palo Alto. more

This restaurant is a safe bet. While the food is not outstanding, it's pretty good. For example I like the lemon chicken at California Pizza hut better than this place, but hey this place has a better location at least in Pasadena). The dessert was great. The wine list is great and their outdoor dining area is inviting. A great place for a first date especially since their desserts are pretty good. Somehow I like this place. A good down to earth restaurant. more

Recently visited for a special occasion. I had not been here in a few years, but this was a great experience. The Sunday breakfast/lunch (brunch) menu had a lot of great choices. The salmon bruschetta was to die for. I would go back just for that appetizer. The service was excellent as usual. more

Crazy good! I grew up eating Italian food, and it is hard to find quality stuff. When somebody suggested we come here, I scoffed. "It's a chain - no way it will be good." After the bruschetta, Ravioli alla Lucana, Linguine Mare Chiaro (girlfiend ordered - amazing) and a bottle of wine (forget the name), I was proven 100% wrong. I will definitely be back. more
