Excellent service 3/4/2011

A local mechanic friend recommended them. From the start their communications inspired confidence, from initial phone calls, to an impromptu tour of our torn down engine. Although more expensive than we would have liked to pay for "our mistake", the engine now purrs like a kitten. Having a long guarantee and check up included, is a win too. more

Ideal Automotive has always provided great service, fixing problems competently and not trying to make repairs that aren't actually needed. They communicate everything they're planning to do clearly. Their prices are fair; in this economy, it's hard to ask for much more than that. more

I don't know much about cars, but I trust Ideal Automotive to help me out with what is necessary only. They have been completely honest about everything so far. I also trust them to keep my car safe. They have a very friendly staff. I just feel comfortable with them. more

I enjoyed the customer service--I asked lot of questions and had patient and well communicated answers. I think prices were mostly reasonable for the work I had done. The only remaining uncertainty is that my "check engine light" went on 2 days after my service at Ideal. I think they did a comprehensive diagnostic and did not find anything wrong with the engine though. Perhaps there's just a kink in my Mazda's computer or something... more

My husband and I have two older Audis. We weren't happy with the service, timing, or prices at the dealer in recent years. I discovered Ideal when I somehow managed to pull the front bumper off of my husband's car on the curb in the parking lot near where I work. The meter reader saw what happened and pointed out Ideal across the street and suggested I ask them for help. They graciously tied up my bumper so I could get home and wouldn't take anything for it. Since then, I've taken my car and my husband's to them several times. We've always received very pleasant, courteous, and knowledgeable service. They've always been patient at explaining what needs to be fixed and why to two people who are not car savvy. The work they have done has been excellent and their prices are much more fair than the dealer. I would recommend them to anyone I know. more

After Ideal completed major engine repair on my '95 Honda Accord wagon I drove the car to our summer cottage in New Hampshire. The next day the car failed to start. Ideal sent a tow truck to New Hampshire with a loaner car for us to use over the weekend; took the Honda back to Somerville and fixed the problem with no additional charge. Service far above and beyond the average. more

Great Service and happy people 6/2/2010

Ideal Auto repair was a great find for me after dealing with an auto dealer intent on the upsell. Dennis is a good guy and unlike some others, he is more interested in maintaining your long term business rather than short term profiteering. Good service speaks for itself and Ideal has provided excellent service for my Toyota Camry since I was referred to them by MacKinnon's in Cambridge. All the people I have dealt with have positive attitudes which is clearly a reflection of the work environment. Trust me. You don't want angry people working on your car. more

I am very satisfied with Ideal. Although my mechanic of 15 years, Tim Hubbard was not there on the day I brought my car in, I had faith in Dennis right away and I can feel the difference driving my car now after the repairs he made. The only thing they forgot to do was put a new sticker on my window as to when the next oil change is as they did one that day but forgot the sticker. They called me to see how the car was running after the repairs and when I told them they said I could pop in anytime to have the new sticker put on. I would highly recommend Ideal. Emma more
