My family and I go to Tokyo Hibachi every Sunday evening (also in Downey) and usually get good service. We decided we would try Ichiban because a friend recommended it and it had pretty good reviews. I will NEVER return. Our server was Liz. If you sit in her section request to be moved. She was very rude. It was early evening (around 5:00) and they were not very busy. It took her 20 minutes to come take our order. We started out by ordering 3 different sushi rolls, some sushi, soup, salad and tea. The whole time we were ordering she was tapping the pen and had her lip curled as if she thought we were taking too much of her time. There were three of us and only one set of chopsticks. I asked her for two more sets. She brought me one set. She never brought the soup, salad or tea. When the rolls were brought out another thirty minutes later, she only brought out two plates. Still not tea, or soup or salad. I asked her to bring us another set of chopsticks, and the soup and salad, and tea. She didn't. The server behind us came over to our table and apologized and brought us some tea, and the chopsticks. We explained about the soup/salad and she brought those out as well. When we were ready to order more sushi, we had to to tell the other server. Liz did not come to check on us again until she brought the check along with one peppermint and one cookie (for THREE people)- not sure how she wanted us to split that! Everytime she would come to our table she made a snyde remark. She was awful. I called to speak to the manager and was told he would not be available to speak to me because they just opened another store and he was busy there, but if I came in I would get better service. TOO BAD I WON'T BE BACK. Do not go here unless you are a fan of bad service. The caterpillar roll, sushi, and rainbow roll were good, as well as the soup. The spider roll was not very good, though. I do not recommend this place after the awful service received!
Pros: Poor parking, awful service, rude waitress, ""B"" rating.
Cons: The sushi tasted fresh, the miso soup was good.
