We had the opportunity to attend the Home Show at the IX Center in Cleveland this past spring. The IX Center or The International Exposition Center becomes a mixture of gardens, homes and businesses that span the 800,000 square foot main exhibition hall.
There is plenty of parking. Being there on a Wednesday, we were able to get a convenient location close to the front door of the center. The pricing was very reasonable and we were given some information about some of the vendors and a map of the layout of the exhibition.
The center itself is huge. It has a Ferris Wheel in the center of the building that takes you up outside the top of the building for a breathtaking view of Cleveland. I am not fond of heights, but I found the idea unique for a convention center. The center is almost nondescript in its appearance, it could be classified as modern in appearance. But it does not distract from the show that was being held that afternoon. The center itself was well staffed, clean and the staff was very courteous when you asked for help finding this or that.
But back to the show. There were gardens, example houses, different types of new products that you can discuss with the vendors for making your home a special place. Everything was well laid out, with plenty of walking room, and seating for tired legs scattered all over the center. The rest rooms were just as large, easily accommodating a crowd, and were clean, well stocked and well lit.
There were food vendors provided by the center. While we did get some drinks, as walking this huge center was thirsty work, we did not purchase any food. The drinks were a little more expensive than what you would pay in a retail store, but that was to be expected. The drinks were cold, and they were the larger sized bottles.
We had a very enjoyable afternoon, and were exhausted after all the walking around. The show was expertly put together, well laid out and the center itself was a pleasure to be in.
