Overview
Sport fishing may seem like a strange topic for a museum, but to its fans, it makes total sense. The sport is extremely popular in South Florida, particularly in Fort Lauderdale and in the Florida Keys. Numerous fishing tournaments bring anglers in from around the world to battle it out with marlin, sailfish, bass and snook.
Features
A surreal overhead display of stuffed and mounted fish may put off non-sportsmen at first, but this place is pure heaven to anglers. The World Record Gallery, in addition to listing current and pending world records, has a full-scale reproduction of a bait and tackle shop. The Fish Gallery concentrates on deep sea life, preservation and conservation for future fishermen. A variety of other galleries showcase everything from places to fish to the sport's legacy, but the most fun is the Discovery Room, where children can put on fishing outfits and play with related toys and games.
