  • The "Superstar" Paradox There is no doubt that over-achievers are successful! They are powerful for what they have accomplished, their knowledge, their title, and for the money, status and power that they have earned for themselves. Most overachievers live "the good" life, that many others only dream they could have! However, sometimes these great things come at a high cost. Which of these scenarios can you relate to? You are gifted on many levels. People know that YOU get the job done! But does that leave you feeling overworked and, ironically, undervalued? You have achieved great things educationally, professionally, materially, but it is still not "good enough"? You feel an unquenchable desire to "DO more and BE more? Do you feel powerful in your professional life but would rather not admit how powerless you feel in your personal life (i.e. it is either spiraling out of control or really non-existent)? If you lost your job or no longer had your high-powered title & nice things title today, could you feel like your life is successful? What is your identity outside of your profession, title, and things? Most successful overachieving professionals have had to make many sacrifices to reach a certain level of success. Some of the things sacrificed are things like a sense of fun freedom (having their say - yes, many people are forced into success) "social" things (friends, family, etc...). They miss out of the simple things in life like being present for their baby's first step or their partner's special ceremony. Or more painfully, they have done things for the sake of "success" that did not naturally align with who they are and what they value. So, slowly but surely, they forget how abundant and joyful life is outside of the confines of who they are professionally. But they often don't know of any other way to deal with the life they have created. Validation from others is a major keystone for many overachieving professionals. And if they do something more aligned with what they actually want to do instead, then they have to face the judgement and criticism of others wondering what they are doing with themselves. Then, many times out of that fear and pressure, many overachievers end up self-sabotaging themselves. And sometimes they have to face their worst fear: losing it all. The life of an overachieving professional lets us know that all that glitters isn't gold. If you can relate to any of these, ICU-1111 can help! We work on helping high performing, over-achieving professionals revive the other sides of themselves which also matter. We help you find peace. a balance between "achievement" and "fulfillment".
