I have been to Hy's for romantic dates and for family dinners. A span of over 25 years!!!!! The service and food superb. It has class that has faded from our society of fast food and ordinary restaurants. Pros: valet parking,(a must in Waikiki), Excellent service, ONO (delicious) food Cons: a bid pricey - but it's worth it. more

Blast from the past 3/31/2007

I have been to Hy's for romantic dates and for family dinners. A span of over 25 years!!!!! The service and food superb. It has class that has faded from our society of fast food and ordinary restaurants. The Oysters are top notch and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. There are lots of table side service, which is non heard of now a days. Dress up, grab your special loved one and celebrate each other!!!! You are worth it! Pros: valet parking,(a must in Waikiki), Excellent service, ONO (delicious) food Cons: a bid pricey - but it's worth it. more

I love this place - 11/29/2005

The reason i like hy's is because they have a terrific menu - everything is delicious. There is a broad spectrum of prices on the wine menu, and they treat their customers with such class that you feel as though you've been transported back in time. Also, if you have the time to look around the place check out the woodwork - it is exquisite! P.S. - if you like iced tea get the lilikoi syrup - and for desert i'd suggest the banana's foster: they fire it up right at your table! Pros: friendly, ambiance, food more

I had my first steakhouse experience at Hy's a few years ago. i was very happy with the services and the food. Of course, for a steakhouse, the prices are always high but definitely comparable to other steakhouses in Honolulu. I love the ambiance in the restaurant. It was romantic and cozy. Unlike other steakhouses, like Mortons and Ruth's Chris, the seating is remote enough enjoy your other half's company without overhearing another's conversation. That is probably the best part about this restaurant and I highly commend it for a relaxing evening with the person you love. I have heard many disagreements on which steakhouse has the best steaks. Everyone has their own preference but I think Hy's is definitely of good quality. PROS: Remote seating, friendly staff CONS: None but it is expensive more

Had a great time 5/31/2005

I've been going to Hy's for 28 years and the one time my girlfriend and I went we had so much fun. The waiter knew her from 30 years ago at another establishment. The bus boy was just as nice as the waiter. It was like going back in a time capsule because the workers have been there a long time and we could reminise like old friends. Not Over-The-Top, But Good Place To Try! 2/14/2005

Hy's has excellent food, but beware that you will pay the price for it. I admit that I am spoiled by some amazing restaurant ambiance so maybe that's why i wasn't floored by Hy's surroundings, but it was still a very classy place. So though I did see some patrons in semi-casual attire, I wouldn't recommend it. This place is an excuse to dress up! The service was great and so was the food. It's Hy Time 4/27/2003

Went here for a large drug company dinner. Very fancy ambience with a pretty good lounge singer. The food was excellent but taking a peek at the menu you're gonna pay for it. The classiness of the restaurant contrasts to its neighborhood, but don't let the outside fool you, inside is quite impressive with both the decor and the energy. This is a great date place. Professional service, delicious food, ambiance, Hy's has it all. There are lots of tableside preps, the caesar salad was delicious and huge. The cherries jubilee dessert was spectacular. But the steaks are the stars. Opt for plain steak, and you'll get the full impact of top quality beef cooked over kiawe wood for an out of this world flavor. Lots of classic sides like french onion soup and escargot to accompany your meal, and the wine list is vast, albeit a little pricey. Pros: Delicious food, Professional service, Great selection Cons: Pricey(but worth it!), Valet parking only more
