Hy-Vee Food Stores

Hy-Vee is by far the most customer focused grocery store I know. My wife went into Hy-Vee to look for a soup bone. We couldn't find any so we asked one of the employees if they had soup bones. Apparently they had stopped carrying soup bones several years ago because no one had every bought any. When we returned a week later, we saw that they had stocked soup bones. One day my wife wanted to make a paella with mussels. Mussels are not easy to find in Iowa, believe me. We called Hy-Vee to ask if they sold mussels. They said they didn't. But sure enough, about a week later we saw mussels in their seafood counter. You'll find all kinds of unusual or hard-to-find items at Hy-Vee that may make you wonder "Why do they sell this?" It seems Hy-Vee literally listens to their customers. If they don't have what you're looking for, they'll get it and put it on their shelves for you. more

Hy-Vee offers a very wide selection of services from an in-house pharmacy to a bakery to seafood counters. I prefer to shop in these stores because I can get all of my groceries for the week and take Chinese food and a movie home for the night. The layout of the store is nice and it is pretty easy to find what you need. The prices are very good and they often have great specials. Coupons are always accepted as well. Don't forget to show your receipt for a discount at the gas station! more

This is a great grocery store where you can also pick up Chineese, pizza, subs, hot deli food and salad bar. The ads come out on Sunday in our area and their prices are very competitive. The produce is great quality and the service is excellent in every area. They have a flower shop, pharmacy and video rentals also. more
