Great Place for Food & Drink 7/15/2009

The food is consistantly good. Presentation is always fun. Atmosphere is delightful & the staff is most plesant. I haven't had a bad experience there ever. Well worth the money. Pros: Great place for Wild Game. They do it best. Cons: Small indoor bar area for such a popular place more

save your money 2/23/2009

My husband and I took a trip to wine country to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Up until our scheduled dinner reservation at Hurley's bar and grill, we were having a wonderful time. When we arrived (on time) we were told they did not have a table for us. We were then directed to the bar area and told to wait. It was extremely cramped, and a man who introduced himself as the GM continued to tell us we were blocking a pathway which violated the fire code. We politely explained that where we were sitting was where the hostess told us to sit, and that we would gladly wait in an area where we were more out of the way. No respose from the GM. This went on for about 30 minutes while we waited and needless to say we were shocked the GM of a restaurant could treat his guests this way. To make a long story short, we were finally provided a table in a dark corner of the restaurant. Service was okay but food was cold. Took a long time to get the check. We did discover other very nice places to dine in the region. So save your money and skip hurley's. There are too many other nice restaurants to choose from in Yountville. more

Limited. 11/10/2008

My daughter and I went to Hurley's for dinner, and perhaps my expectations were too high since it is nestled amongst restaurants which are considered to be some of the best (although our lunch the next day at Bouchon was not that great either). I thought the menu was rather limited, and even the wine list. We had gone to Bistro Jeanty for a glass of wine and an appetizer before (wish we had eaten dinner there) so we skipped preliminaries and just ordered main courses. I did not want salmon, boar, venison, or beef, so I wound up with the roast chicken. It was good, but nothing out of the ordinary, at least not at this level. The bread was good, but I found it disappointing that the wait staff poured a bit of olive oil on my bread plate, but once that was gone, I didn't feel like calling someone over for more olive oil, and none was offered. My daughter got gnocchi, which was unlike any I had ever seen. They were flat. To me gnocchi is supposed to be a light and fluffy dumpling-type dish. Oh well. We finished our wine, a savignon blanc, skipped dessert, and left. more

great bar food 6/12/2007

We went to Hurley's on a Thursday night at 10:30 for a late meal. We ended up eating at the bar, and it was some of the best bar food I've ever had. The french fries were to die for and the bartender could whip up some great local cocktails. Pros: great bartender, willing to stay late to feed hungry travelers more

A Napa Valley must! 9/25/2005

My friend and I had a great meal at Hurley's this weekend. The menu was very diverse and they had a very accessible wine list with lots of by the glass options. The martinis are a must! The prices are reasonable for the great quality and service. The staff was warm, friendly and down to earth. The food was perfectly executed and quickly delivered to the table. There were romantic couples, families, parties and even people just sitting at the bar for a drink to watch the game - the place is very diverse. Don't miss the cucumber-mint martini before dinner or the Navan vanilla cognac with your dessert. By the way, the chevre cheesecake with huckleberries was also divine. Pros: diverse menu, great art, in/outdoor patio/bar Cons: can't think of one more

New Yountville Star 5/7/2003

Yountville native Bob Hurley has hit a home run in taking over Fred Halpert's struggling LiveFire. In little more than six months, Hurley's has become THE place to try in Yountville. Emphasizing fresh, local ingredients and fascinating wild game dishes, the menu has something to please nearly everyone. Couple the great food with a hip martini bar and comfortable patio, and you've got a four star dining experience in the gastronomic center of the Wine Country! Pros: Reasonably Priced, Interesting Menu, Owner-Chef Cons: Can be Noisy more
