Cooper stadium is not named for the famous Cooper Brothers who were a 1930's major league battery, but for an erstwhile Franklin County[Columbus] Commissioner! The park and the AAA International League franchise is owned by Franklin County, George Steinbrenner & Co.[Yankees] supply the players. The park was last renovated in 1970's and shows it. Parking and access is adequate. The food is execrable, pack a lunch! The field is fine, brand of baseball is excellent[Jeter, Soriano, Hernandez,etc.] played here. The PA system and scoreboard is bush league. Go to a game in the afternoon if you can and skip all pregame non-happenings. Pros: AAA Baseball, accessible, plenty of box seats Cons: Operation bush leagu, park needs update, Steinbrenner more

  • The Scene
    Tiny, charming, and chock-full of whimsy, this instantly likeable gelato and sweets boutique stands out in a neighborhood full of eye-catching shops and restaurants. An enormous fiberglass ice cream cone stands watch by a popular bench outside. Inside, every inch of space is crammed with colorful displays of imported lollipops, chocolates, and premium Italian coffees. Service is friendly, and, if the owner Paolo gets involved, a bit crazy in the nicest possible way.

    The Food
    Paolo's menu includes gelato "art" (fanciful creations like "Eggs Sunny Side Up" made from gelato and confectionary), panini, and shelves full of crepes, cannolis, imported sweets and coffees. This wacky joint comes close to delivering sensory overload; ultimately it works best as a place to head for a simple cone after mealtime in the Highlands. Ask for a sugar cone with anything from mint chocolate chip or sour cherry to coffee or German chocolate.
