Two thumbs down 4/13/2009

Came in on saturday night for drinks and food with friends. The first few items we ordered they were out of not a good start. I figured i would just get a burger cant mess that up....wrong. The menu stated they had house made brioch buns but when i got my burger it was a regular sesame bun from the store. Will definitely not return to hunters ridge. more

great place to waste your money 4/13/2009

Wow this place is a restaurant i would rather eat out of the dumpster behind chuck e cheese. Im telling you people dont waste your time or money on this ""restaurant"" Cons: bland food, mcdonalds has more flavor more

worst place ever 4/11/2009

Dont eat at hunters ridge who wants to support a business that doesnt pay there staff. Hunters ridge needs to just close the doors. The staff there goes weeks without getting paid. What a bunch of crooks that run that place. Not only do they not pay staff they lie on there menu it say on the back of the menu that they get all there food from local farmers and lists the name of some of the farms dont believe that it is a big fat lie. Cons: lie to customers, dont pay staff more

Quiet... great food. Super staff!!! 3/12/2009

AWESOME fish in an unexpected place. The staff was quick and pleasant. Not sure why anyone would have a problem here. I had sea bass, and my son had the hamburger. Nice restauarant, out of the way. We had a great time. I will be coming back for a romantic dinner very soon. Pros: Wait staff was very good. Food was delicious, and served quickly. Cons: Hard to find in Sherwood, but worth circling around more

YUCK! 2/2/2009

I can't believe this place is in business! Clearly no one here has any idea what they are doing. The food isn't anything special, quite boring honestly. Too many people on staff, and yet not one of them has their head on right. No personality.. Overall experience... flat.. Pros: The server rememberd to bring our drinks the second time we asked. I guess that is a ""pro"" Cons: everything more

Great Brugers, Great Wine List 1/28/2009

I love a good burger, but they are hard to find. Hunters Ridge has juicy, tasty hamburgers that make a super lunch or dinner. Service when I've been (mostly lunch) has always been attentive and speedy. The other dishes have always been good as well. The salads are great - the toasted hazelnuts are a nice touch. And the wine list has a great selection of local wines at reasonable prices. The space is beautiful - very secluded and gorgeous dining room, yet casual enough that I don't feel uncomfortable if I wear jeans or if I skipped shaving that morning! To my mind, Hunters Ridge is the only place in Sherwood that strikes the balance between quality, service, and price -- while still being casual enough that I can go there without planning ahead. And when we've had the 2 year-old in tow, she is welcomed - which is important to a parent. Update: Never mind. They went out of business. Pros: Burgers, burgers, burgers - and wine list Cons: Parking lot can be kind of crowded - narrow spaces and a bit of walk to restaurant. more

nice find in Sherwood 11/9/2008

My wife and I went there Friday night and tried the new menu. Fabulous. She had the filet on 'smashed potatoes"" that was done perfectly and I had the trout that was exceptional. The trout came with three crawfish fritters that were very good and unusual. I loved them. For desert she had the Creme Brule with Kaluah that neither one of us cared for. I had the volcano cake that was delectible. Would highly recommend it. Hard to find but worth it. Great wine list. Pretty good service, not perfect but it was a busy night. Pros: food, wine list, setting Cons: hard to find more

Dont Bother! Park and walk.... wait forever (understaffed)... ok food w/HIGH prices.... hard to find, NEED A Sign! 10/24/2008

Parked in the lot, way out... guessing the parking is used for condos and offices.... not much retail around to go to at all. I liked the view, except the buildings were under construction or demolition or something. I liked the food but it was a LONG, LONG wait as they were understaffed (even though there were very few customers in the restaurant) Sign on outside of building was unreadible! They really need a sign at the corner of Roy Rogers before you drive into the lot..... DUH! I honestly dont know how they survive. Pros: Ambiance Cons: Service, parking, food-ok more

horrible service 10/1/2008

I am going to keep it short, terrible lazy unattentive service. The bread on my sandwich was moldy, the tuna was overcooked and dry with undercooked bacon on top, his gnocchi was tough and doughy. more

dining among the spiders anyone 9/14/2008

This was our first and most likely last attempt to dine at Hunters Grill and were quite disapointed with our entire experience. We were told on the phone that they were closing soon, (we called at 7:30) and our only option was the bar menu. They happily abliged when we arrived and let us sit in the dining room. There were cobwebs and spider/spider eggs on the window. Gross. We had the prawns with guacamole They were bland and cold, even the bread was too hard and stale with ice cold butter. The salad was over dressed and wilted. Gnocchi was gummy and way oversalted, scallops wer over cooked and rubbery. Our server (Jay, I Think) was obviously pre-occupied with his cell phone as we watched him typing away numerous times throughout our meal. Wines were nice though. Pros: wines were good Cons: spider webs, cold bland food, poor execution more

What happened????? 7/22/2008

My brother and I dined there quite often in their prime. Service still severely lacks in all areas, food seemed to fall off the charts in creativity, freshness, and passion. We loved there Thursday music, but the performers seem very amateur recently. The dining room is always empty, you could have heard a pin drop on a recent Friday night. The whole experience seems to have gone sliding downhill, Someone tell me what happened.........New owners, chef, staff?????? We are lost out here with no place left to dine. We wont be returning. Pros: Without good food and service, what other reason is there to visit????? more

Great Food 6/25/2008

I have eaten at Hunter's Ridge numerous times and have always had a great experience. Paul is amazing chef. more

Worth the drive, 20 minutes from Downtown, Come on PDX 3/16/2008

As my friends and I eat out almost religiously, we always try to find places that aren't the current ""restaurant of the year"" and so forth, as they generally have either very long wait times, there accolades tend to go to there head, and food quality seems to suffer greatly. We are always very pleased to find new places that wow us, as does hunters ridge grill in Sherwood. A bit hard to find, but well worth the ""hunt"", no pun intended. Lets get on to the food. They serve lunch and dinner, which both are excellent every time we have been there (9-10 times now). Their menu changes as the chef sees fit. Creativity, flavors and simple presentations are the rule here. We love the fact that they strive to make all there charcuterie, breads, desserts on premise. We have sampled almost all the menu items. Their cassoulet is to die for, (no pun intended their either with the sausage, bacon and duck in all its artery clogging goodness). They are not shy in using vegetables(as most restaurants dont), All fish preparations have been great. The pork chop is delicious every time as well as the steaks, They use local farmers and give them a recognition on the back of their menu which is nice. Their website is packed with upcoming events such as wine maker dinners, happy hour, live music and so much more. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the burger, brioche bun with white cheddar, my only complaint is PLEASE BRING BACK THE PICKLES!!!!! SOON!!! Small but focused wine list with some great older vintages that change often, yummy cocktails too!!! more

Great food in Sherwood!! 3/2/2008

After two great meals and a night enjoying jazz in the bar at Hunters Ridge Grill, it is time to refute others' bad experiences with my own wonderful ones! We've both been in the business for some time, and it's pretty hard to please both of us in the same meal. Pros: Food, live music, wine selections Cons: Hours!! They're closed on Monday more

Very long wait for food! 1/29/2008

I took my friend to lunch for her birthday. After ordering, we waited for a VERY long time and our food hadn't appeared. Most of the lunch crowd had eaten and left and we were still waiting. I finally asked the waitress and she soon brought our food. I was so disappointed when I started to eat my Chef's sandwich and found it to be so salty I almost didn't want to eat it, but was so hungry I didn't dare send it back!! I didn't want to spend my entire afternoon there!!! Needless to say, I probably won't hurry back. Too many other good restaurants to go to. What a shame. (My friend's food was good, I think she had a salad.) more

Best around 6/30/2007

My wife and I have eaten at Hunters Ridge many times since there opening last year. It has always been our Sunday PM getaway from the kids. We have always been amazed by the quality, freshness, creativity, and frequently changing menu items. They serve lunch, dinner, and a Sunday brunch. Pros: Food, Food, Food. Nice wine list, new wine flights are great Cons: Service, Service, Service more

Great food and service 6/15/2007

This was my first visit and my first message posting. Upon reading some of the previous reviews I was a bit cautious however decided to give it a go. The Flat Iron steak was excellent and I am hard to please because I like mine very very rare. I often feel chefs are hesitant to believe that but this chef cooked it to perfection. The salad was fresh and delicious. Our waite person was very good, attentive without being intrusive. I will certainly return. Pros: Great decor, pretty setting. Cons: A bit hard to find more

Excellent food, haven't been disappointed yet 4/2/2007

Strangely enough, my fiancee and I arrived two hours before Hairstarrr did on the same day and had a completely different experience. It was our second time to the restaurant and we loved the food just as much as we did before. We were a little apprehensive when we walked in because we overheard the hostess apologizing about their server to another couple. Our server, Eric [according to the name on my receipt, tall guy, looks like he's related to Nicholas Cage], did an excellent job (and we believe he was our server the first time we went as well) so we lucked out. Pros: Food, value, ambience (but leave the kids with a sitter) Cons: Reputation for poor service (maybe we got lucky?) more

Lousy service! 3/25/2007

My girlfriend and I went to Hunter's Ridge Grill for dinner last week. We arrived and ordered salads, then main courses. In the meantime, four other friends arrived. They ordered their food shortly after us. Our salads were served and they were fine. Our friends food arrived before ours. The bartender then said he thought we were waiting for our friends before putting our order in. If that was the case, then why did our food arrive after theirs? Anyone knows that food being served out of order is a big no no! The server apparently knew he messed up., and tried to give us free drinks. I would rather have had him say he made a mistake instead of lying about it and blaming us. The manager needs to get it together and train these people properly. This is my second time here that the service was subpar, too bad the food is good. 2-26-08. Pros: Good food Cons: Improper training for waitstaff more
