The Humane Society gets more than they can handle. They have dogs and cats, mostly. It's hard to walk in and not walk out with a new friend.
They have a room full of puppies, of course, but they also have lots of adult dogs looking for a good home. All carefully screened...you will know ahead of time if a dog is not good with children, or has a housetraining issue.
They will chip the animal, as well as offer a coupon for a free spay/neuter (mandatory), for about $75.
Our dog is the sweetest thing, and I'm glad we had a hand in rescuing her.
