My first, and probably last, trip to Hugo's was a disappointment. We were there for friend's birthday with a decent sized party. Two of us ordered one of their specialty drinks and we were told they were out. Another friend ordered a beer and was told by our server they were out, but when he went to the bar they had it on tap. I ordered the corn soup, but they were out. I asked about the duck cigars and was told it was an appetizer that could be be an entree. So I ordered the duck cigars, which turned out to be one duck egg roll cut into three pieces. The sauce was the best part. A few people ordered the chicken enchillada, which one of my friends best described as ""deconstructed."" I tried it and wasn't too partial to it, but I guess I like my enchilladas rolled with more sauce. I ended up getting a roasted pineapple/chile tequila concoction for a drink that was pretty good. It's heavy on cilantro though, so if you don't like cilantro, avoid it. Service was good until after we had ordered all of our food. The drinks were refreshed for a while, but then we were left hanging for about 20 minutes after we'd finished and someone had to get up to find our server to ask for the check. Another 30 minutes later and we finally got our check. They do split checks, which is a nice plus. There was an extra specialty drink on the bill that no one had, so we had to do some back and forth with the server to get it removed. So to sum up: Drinks are great; Food is not worth it; Service could use a lot of improvement.
