I come here quite frequently and the food has been consistent and delicious. I love the green drink....so delicious and very good for you (added bonus!) Now I can't speak for ...

vegetarian heaven 2/24/2007

I am a big fan of Hugo's. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait but it's well worth it. Nice portions of delicious, healthy food. Humongous selection of teas and fresh squeezed juices. My favorite place for breakfast or brunch. more

healthy comfort food 11/20/2006

hugo's is our favorite neighborhood spot to go to for comfort food. really tasty soups of the day, salads and rolls. both vegan and vegetarian options are available and still have lots of flavor, and we're not vegetarian. we've never had to wait for long because the restaurant seats quite a large number of people and service is brisk. Pros: healthy food, won't break the bank more

awesome breakfast, awful service 11/9/2006

breakfast/brunch at hugo's rocks, it's definitely one of the best places in l.a. more

great vegetarian options 11/6/2006

this restaurant always delivers--very consistent high quality, healthy and delicious. i love that there are so many excellent meatless items on their menu. overall, the quaint ambiance and comfort-food oriented menu make this place a regular stop. more

Love love LOVE! 9/20/2006

You know when you leave a restaurant feeling disgustingly full? You will not feel that way after Hugo's! They use only the freshiest ingredients -- their sesame chicken salad has real orange segments, not mandarin oranges from a can! The pumpkin pancakes are another must, as are any of their teas. Get there early on the weekends or expect a wait! Pros: Fresh ingredients, great brunch, tea Cons: Long wait on weekends more

largest selection of teas anywhere 9/1/2006

I found this by accident while driving home from Cedars. What a FIND!!! I've been back 4 times since. There is significant care taken with high quality ingredients, like the chicken. My last great one was the risotto with mushrooms/chick, but the turkey appetizer was my first love from the first time. The carrot soup was one of the all time best evers. And the blueberry pancake (upside down) had one of the greatest concentrations of blueb's. A personal favorite has been the red pearl tea which I have never seen in any restaurant...and haven't seen anywhere else for sale. They do have a fantastic selection that can be bagged and bought there. Pros: healthy and affordable; vegetarians rejoice time Cons: I hear it's way too crowded on weekend mornings but don't know that firsthand. more

Healthy Flavorful Food 8/13/2006

Tried this spot for breakfast after a long night at the clubs in West Hollywood. It's not the typical greasy spoon one might be seeking after an evening on the town, but the food is surprisingly tasty. If you're into counting calories and fat grams, I'd give this place a shot. Pros: Healthy Food Cons: Only Have Healthy Food more

Great Food & Great Service 2/18/2006

I came to Hugo's after reading reviews on Citysearch. The reviews were accurate to the experience. Granted, it was a Thursday, but service was adequate. The knowledge of the server however was exceptional. She knew about everything on the menu. Suffice it to say, you can just put the menu down and ask the server what is good. We ate vegetarian meals that were outstanding. The price was compariable to the ambiance. I recommend this for anyone who wants a great meal in a great part of town. Pros: Location, Food, Knowledgeable Staff Cons: A bit more attentive more

night with jazz 6/23/2005

We spend a nice evening with our friend in the Hugo's. The food was tastefull, the service was friendly.Friday night we enjoyed a talented young jazz band. It was a great night.Thank you!! more

Not worth it 4/17/2005

it's a cute little place but it's not worth the hype and long lines... it's just not tasty. I've been a few times, the only thing that really impresses me is the tea selection Pros: Tea, outside seating Cons: overpriced, bland tasting, long lines more

pleasant & enjoyable 1/22/2005

I hate waiting so I was almost scared off by some of the other reviewers' warnings about Hugo's being overcrowded. However, my wife, daughter, and I came in on a Saturday morning around 9:00am and were seated immediately. Upon leaving one hour later, patrons were still being seated immediately. We found the atmosphere to be very pleasant and enjoyable. Unlike some other breakfast spots, Hugo's did not have the fast-food/diner ambience; rather, it was more like a restaurant. We felt like the staff were friendly, and we plan on returning. Lastly, they provided a child seat for our one-year-old and there was ample space between patrons. more

listen up 1/9/2005

the only thing good here is the food. Mouthwatering and organic! The service was crappy and slow, he said 2 words to us the whole time. I will go back, but only for the food. Pros: pancakes!!!!, great tea list, organic, fresh more

a must go 10/28/2004

Hugo's is simply one of the best restaurants in LA. It's not overly expensive and yet some of the best food you will find. Hugo's also has a great selection of vegan or healthy plates along with a myriad of teas for practically every purpose. Also the ambiance is always fun and cozy, and the staff really friendly, not too mention good looking!!! Also, if you come to meet her, weekend manager Jasmine is amazing and loveable. Pros: desert, lunch and breakfast, good looking staff more

don't eat brunch 8/11/2004

i highly do not recommend the eggs benedict. how hard is it to toast an english muffin, keep the meat off and prepare a good sauce? the staff was polite and friendly, but if you are sitting outside, they use plants to block the sun. this place is overall too over priced for the quality of food you get. more

Great Brunch 4/24/2004

I went for brunch. It was great! The service was wonderful. Someone was always checking on us. I brought my 2-year old. The only thing is the tables are a little close. But the food was excellent and the options were great. Oh I didn't like the hot chocolate that was the only down fall. Just wasn't chocalatey enough or sweet enough. Pros: Excellent food, Inexpensive, Great service Cons: , parking more

Best Brunch in Town 9/17/2003

This is by far the best brunch spot in Los Angeles. Not only do they have a great selections of meals, teas and juices, but everything I have tried has been excellent. Hugo's is also a fun place to take out-of-towners, as it is a good place to spot celebs. If the wait is too long, try Caffe Latte, a Hugo's spinoff - same high quality of food and service, smaller menu. Pros: Delicious food, Large selection, Excellent service Cons: Wait on the weekends more

So So 8/11/2003

I went to Hugo's with my husband on a Sunday. The crowd was hip and beautiful but the wait staff were apparently thinking about that day's audition because service wasn't up to par. I tried the Pasta Papa and was less than thrilled although my husband's pankcakes were fab. I saw Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit fame come in with an entourage - which was a highlight of the meal. I'd go again. more

Pineapples Galore! 5/27/2003

I loved this restaurant!! I shared an order of the Pineapple Upside-Down pancake and it was pure heaven!! My friend loved it as well. She also got the Desauno Fuerte (sp?) and she absolutely LOVED it. The coffee was good, the servers were nice, and I even spotted a celebrity having breakfast with her baby. We went back a couple days later with our dog and sat outside. It was GREAT!!! There's outside parking, and if the lot is full, there's free parking across the street. It cute and cozy. more

unique and excellent breakfasts 4/25/2003

The era of celebrity-watching at Hugo's may have waned, but the innovate and high-quality food endures. The Desayuno Fuerte (poached eggs and vegetables over potato panackes), the Papa's Eggs (eggs scrambled with bacon, sausage, scallions), and the Chilequiles (tortillas, eggs, and sausage in chipotle sauce) are always reliable, and the specials are often hard to resist. Pros: great coffee, vast tea selection, creative cuisine Cons: closes early (3 or 4) more
