Trash 11/11/2010

This place sells real vintage, but not in any hip or fun or slightly fashionable way.\r The owner, an old crotchety, and indeed rude and pushy woman, is very uncooperative.\r I walked in there last night.\r She and her friend were in there smoking like a couple of chimmenys. As tiny and cramped as this store is, one would hope for a bit of couurtesy.\r Nope. Take it or leave it, was her attitude.\r Then, she showed me several so-called cashmere sweaters.\r She raved on and on about how she could sell them to a dealer and get ""three times more"" but wanted to give me a chance.\r I wished tp buy one of the sweaters, but saw a lot of the stones missing, and saw that it was WOOL, NOT ""cashmere.""\r I asked if shee'd work with me on the price. \r ""H-E-L-L no was her flat out answer.\r Then she asked me if I was an actress. She tried to brobe me by saying that if I was an actress and bought the sweater, then she'd give me DUPLICATE receipts from other customers, so that I could write it off.\r Old Crow.\r The following day I called her to ask why she lied to me by selling me a wool sweater by claiming it's ""cashmere.""\r She yelled at me that she (supposedly) had a customer ""waiting)------my ass-----ad had no tome to waste on me.\r As for the tons of bad reviews about her on all the sites? She claimed that she knew about them all and didn't give a ""crap, "" because MAD MEN bought from her all the time-----yeah, they MUST be mad.\r I won't be going back to that dump(or to the store). more

Worst & Most Frightening Experience I've Ever Had in a Store 2/6/2010

Please be warned before going into this store. The owner is agressively abusive. Her behavior is worse than any I have ever experienced in a retail setting (and perhaps anywhere else).\r \r My two sisters and I are avid collectors of vintage clothing, so I was very pleased to have a free afternoon in Burbank which gave me the chance to go into Hubba Hubba. I'd passed it several times while driving, and I was glad to have the chance to shop there.\r \r I wanted to browse the store with an eye toward purchasing Valentine's gifts for my sisters. I wasn't sure yet what those would be, but I thought maybe I'd pick out some jewelry for them, or some purses, or some cardigans.\r \r Immediately upon entering the store, I was accosted by the owner in an extremely rude manner. She wanted to know what I was looking for, and I replied, ""I'm just browsing, trying to get some ideas."" This is a standard, polite, and acceptable response in this circumstance.\r \r She then barked at me ""That was a question. I asked you what you are looking for."" Her tone and manner frightened me.\r \r I again replied, ""I'm just looking for now. Thank you.""\r \r She then raised her voice another notch and shouted, ""I""m asking you WHAT you are looking for.""\r \r Startled and frightened, i began to think that this woman was truly psychotic and dangerous. I made my way to the door, and she began racing towards me while being very verbally abusive. \r \r I have never been so scared in a store and on my way to my car. I was concerned that she might follow me.\r \r Her behavior was absolutely unacceptable, and I suggest that no one endanger themselves by entering her establishment. Pros: None. Cons: Agressive and rude owner makes shopping impossible. more

Rude and Pushy Owner with smoke filled shop 8/3/2008

I would shop here much more often if it weren't for the pushy owner. She follows you around the store making you look at dresses and trying them on. She doesn't let you just leisurely look. She has rules about her clothing as well. For instance she will yell at you for holding keys in your hands as you look through the racks. If you can get past all this and find a dress you like you better be prepared for the horrible smell of cigarettes. Sometimes the store is so filled with smoke it makes your eyes burn and you have to go outside for fresh air. It's a shame too because her clothes are great and at reasonable prices. You just have to expect that you will need to get them cleaned to get the cigarette smell out of them. more

Horrible Service, RUDE Owner!! 7/14/2007

Absolutely the RUDEST owner I have ever dealt with. She SMOKES inside around all of these vintage clothes!! A little overpriced, though some of it is good. Some of it is FAKE vintage, so check the tags!!! \r On my first visit, the shop owner insulted me regarding the size of my breasts and how ""they would never fit into the dress I was interested in purchasing. My second visit to Hubba Hubba was this past week. Again, the owner was pushy, RUDE and followed me around her tiny little store, complaining that I was getting too close to her mannequins near the window. She basically RUINED my entire shopping experience with her neurosis. After about 10 minutes of being told what to do, treated like a child, how to turn the \r clothing-rack, ?don?t touch my clothes to the floor? (although she smokes around them) I looked at her and said ""You know what? I'm done."" To my amazement, she asked ""What? Did I offend you or something??"" \r \r Needless to say, I will NEVER, EVER go back. There are way too many amazing vintage clothing stores in the LA area that feature incredible finds at GREAT prices--without rude sales peopl and drama. Pros: Some nice dresses if you are willing to sift through them yourself! Cons: Rude, offensive owner, pushy, SMOKES inside the store around the clothing! Yuck more

Don't Bother Calling 11/9/2005

The person I spoke to was very curt and rude when I asked them if they carried a specific item. And in a frustrated voice said, ""You have to come in . . . I'm with a customer."" I hope they realize I have absolutely no interest in checking the place out now. more

Not Hubba Bubba! 9/18/2002

I've been shopping here for a long time, and this store always delivers on what I'm looking for, even though it is smaller than a lot of the Melrose shops. I can always seem to find matching earrings and purses for dresses. I brought my boyfriend in here once a even he found a cool 50s shirt. And it's in Burbank, too so it's not like it's hard to find somewhere to park. more
