A little of everything 4/15/2006

We just got a museum membership and hope to enjoy it alot. My kids love the butterfly exhibit. This is a large glass pyramid filled with a rainforest environment and hundreds of butterflies of all sizes. They also enjoy the dinosaur exhibit hall, which shows bones and models. Currently there is a special dinosaur exhibit going on. They also like the wildlife "dioramas" that can be found upstairs. They are still a little young for the IMAX, but I might try to make a date night out of that. more

Body Works 4/14/2006

This exhibit is at the Museum of Natural Science in Houston. It features real body parts and full body cadavers. It is fascinating! Most of what they show you is normal parts, but they also display some abnormalities-such as arthritis, smoker's lungs, and some cancer. A brain affected by Alzheimer's is also shown. The cancer and the brain really affected me, but I am still glad to have a better understanding of it. This exhibit may not be for the faint of heart, but it is truly amazing to see how we are put together. I would definitely recommend it. more

Awesome place to bring the kids! 11/17/2005

I had a lot of fun when I went with a group of people. A great time to go for free is on Tuesdays from 2pm to 8pm. A lot of the exhibits were free and worth watching if you want to keep children occupied and busy for a couple of hours. At the time I went, they had the chocolate gallery but since we didn't pay, we weren't able to go. It looked like it would have been fun to watch though. I think that if you come with a positive attitude and with a good group of excited people, it's worth the money if you were to pay. Just be sure to call the museum first to see what time it's open and also for what time each exhibit is open and when it closes. more

great family outing 10/23/2005

my nephew loves the dinosaur exhibit and wanders around as long as we let him asking all kinds of questions. my niece likes the butterfly exhibit. she just loves all the colors on them. then we usually stop at the mccdonalds for a bite. occasionnally i take them to the imax as a special treat. we usually spend the whole day here when we go and have lots of fun. more

Experience 10/15/2005

very very educational, and fun. this is a great place for the family to enjoy. exhibits are great and very realistic. we have never had a bad experience at the museum. I look forward to having company, a date, company party or really cool exhibit so I have an excuse to go to this museum. more

great for anyone 8/21/2005

This great science museum has many different exhibits, like a wonderful and large collection of mineral specimens, a dinosaur skeleton, space-station models, a planetarium, IMAX theater and a six-story butterfly center. The planetarium is something of its own, and will literally take you into space to teach you about the universe, notably our solar system in the Milky Way Galaxy. The graphics of this display are quite beautiful. more

IMAX 8/21/2005

The true name should be the Houston Museum of Dinosaur Science. They have a huge, thorough exhibit of minerals and rocks. The dinosaur fossils or fossil recreations are visually inspiring. I have learned a lot I love the pendulum that hangs and tells time by knocking over little blocks. Stand and watch it when you go. IMAX is also a fun great feature. The sharks seem so real and even scarier when in 3D. The price is minimal, so enjoy. more

Houston Museum of Natural Science 8/21/2005

The Natural Science Museum is the place to take the family when they're in that dinosaur kind of mood. Towering skeletons of the ancient rulers of the Earth command the full power of one's imagination. Children and adults will enjoy the experience of sharing space with these majestic giants. They also have an Imax theater, and an excellent planetarium. There is also a butterfly house where one can see gorgeous living butterflies up close and personal. more

Family Fun 8/20/2005

I took my family here to go on a family fun trip on a weekend so we can have fun and learn something at the same time. The exhibits here changes often but it's really fun. They have a big big butterfly room where you go in and observe. There's also imax and a mc donalds. You can buy a family membership pack if you would like to visit often. more

very fun exhibits, good for kids 8/19/2005

this museum is a very fun museum especially for kids. the exhibits range from fossils to energy to rocks to science. the best exhibit in my opinion is the wiess energy hall, which contains the various ways we make energy. kids will seriously love this museum as it combines learning with fun in a way that holds kids attention. more

you must go to the Planetarium 8/19/2005

Last year, we went into the planetarium and saw star gazing. It was an interesting program in which we learned all about the constellations of the stars and planets in our solar system. It was an awesome experience. Since the kids were tired after that, we decide to skip the butterfly exibit. I heard it's really cool... You should have seen the kids when they saw our solar system inside the planetarium... Priceless! :) Recommended. more

Really like it here. 8/14/2005

I really love this museum. It's very neat and a lot to learn about it! My favorite is the butterfly exhibit which has hundred of butterflies flying all around! The Imax theater is also great and you can get lost in one of their movies. They also have a McDonald's located inside! A must for a family with children! more

World of Wonder 8/11/2005

Texas wildlife, precious gems/minerals, butterflies, Egyptian artifacts... all of it's at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. A great way to spend the day with your family, this museum offers a wide range of intriguing diplays and IMAX movies. Several recent exhibits include The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and another one entitled "Gold! Natural Treasure". So take a peek at the displays, see a movie in 3D, and don't forget to visit the gift shops on your way out. more

A great place to spend a day 8/11/2005

The Houston Museum of Natural Science is a great place to spend a day. It is definitely a fun museum for kids as they get to look at the bones of huge dinosaurs. In addition, there is usually a special exhibit at the museum, but there is an additional charge. The museum also has an IMAX theater, which is also a separate expense. There is a McDonald's inside for a quick bite. We had a year pass and went fairly often. The kids never got bored. I highly recommend this museum. more

Wonderful Day Outing! 8/9/2005

The HMNS offers a large exhibit hall, planetarium, Imax theatre, and butterfly center! The exhibit hall has a great interactive exhibit on energy, featuring an explanation of how oil production and refineries work as well as a look at alternative energy. Another favorie in the exhibit hall is the extensive gem collection - colorful rocks from all over the world! The museum makes a great date or a fun day with the kids. more

Great exhibits and numerous galleries 8/6/2005

The Museum of Natural Science is a wonderful place. It is part of the Hermann Park group of facilities. The Museum offers great exhibits over a wide variety of scientific topics. Once great exhibit explores oil and gas production and is very interested and educational. The dinosaurs are great too. It is such a wonderful place for families to spend a day together and can be so educational for parents and kids alike. more

Interesting Exhibits 7/23/2005

The Museum of Natural Science has exactly what you're looking for. The first time I came here, I fell in love with the place. Although it is geared more towards teenagers and adults, there are some things that kids will enjoy. They usually have very interesting IMAX shows and a planetarium. Admission is relatively inexpensive and is a great value for the exhibits they have. They host a variety of exhbits for a couple of months and they are usually very prominent and popular exhibits. I recently went and saw the Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Exhibit and was astounded by the intricacy and volume that the exhibit encompassed. I recommend this place if you are ever in search of a nice peaceful time downtown. more

Decent Prices but not a place for children 6/20/2005

The Museum of Natural Science has a lot of different exhibits (each one requires the purchase of a separate ticket). Currently they're showing the Lord of the Rings exhibit (which is only in 3 locations in the entire U.S.) so I think that's definitely worth seeing if you're a LOTR fan. As for the other exhibits, I found them to be boring and there were plenty of things that you wouldn't want your child touching. If you have a toddler that loves to touch everything in sight (like mine), you'll spend the entire time saying, "No." There's really not much for kids to do here but it's worth a visit if you have no children and you're new to the area. more

Museum of Natural Science 6/16/2005

I remember going in a field trip for school when I was little and I remembered that it was so interesting that I just had to go again now that I am older. It was so interesting to see all of the thing that the people in the past lives had and the mummy that they had on display I mean wow! I was so impressed by everything. We spent hours just looking at all the different things that they had. I enjoyed it more now that I am older than when I was little. more
