A Local Staple 10/25/2009

Here's the deal - it's an over-crowded $h!t-hole with stuff jammed into ever crevice. But it's a remnant of by-gone era, before there was the corporate big boxes like Guitar Center there was H.O.G. I bought my first "good" guitar there in 1975...and had modifications done by their excellent technician. Once you know some people there and know your way around, it's a great place to actually do business. If you like the squeaky-clean mall music store environment, this ain't for you. If you like tons of used instruments, some a little dusty, some played by local and national rock gods... then you'll love H.O.G. Go check it out. more

Too Much Stuff 8/18/2005

The House of Guitars is a store that just has way too much inventory. This is great, because they have pretty much anything that you could want in the way of guitars, basses, amps, drums, CD's or sheet music. But, sometimes you get stuff that isn't in very good condition just because it has been slammed in with all the other stuff. There are piles of guitar cases, guitars are sometimes stacked up against eachother. Their prices also aren't good, but they will match prices so you can always just take in an ad. more
