House by the Side of the Road

This is THE place to go for shrubs, flowers and trees. I have found their selection to be far superior to any other nursery in the area. In addition, the overall plant health is better than other nurseries. The prices are lower than that of area nurseries, perhaps because the volume they carry. And finally, the staff is superb. They are knowledgeable of every plant species they carry, and help you load your car! The gift shop has a lot of fun little country/antique items. Free cookies and popcorn for visitors. The only bad thing I can say is that the parking can be hairy sometimes. We have a very large truck, and if the parking on the side of the building is taken, we have to park in front. The front parking area is difficult to navigate with a very large truck. more

When you have planting on your mind, a visit to the House by the Side of the Road in Wilton is the place to go! They have the best selection of plants, trees and shrubs. We have a great ficus tree in our sun room that we purchased there. We also bought 2 apple trees and blueberry bushes from this great store. The employees are eager to help you decide on what to buy, if you're not sure. Parking is sometimes problematic, as the lot is small and on certain days fills up fast. The prices are reasonable enough to keep me going back for more. more
