We have to give this restaurant our enthusiastic support . We moved here from the San Francisco bay area and were spoiled by inexpensive great chinese food. We were happy not only to find a chinese restaurant close to us, but one that is as good if not better than what we had in SF. We also have been to China and had authentic chinese food. The House of Good fortune is better! more

OMG, portlandgirl79, I had almost exactly the same experience almost 4 years later!!! While my meal was on time, I got home to see that the restaurant screwed up my order. I was irritated so I called them and to tell them what happened. Instead of being courteous and correcting their mistake, the hostess argued with me that I got what I ordered. She was completely irrational. I had just been inside the restaurant 3 days before and ordered the same meal. My take out order bore no resemblance to the meal I had ordered. I even had her exam it. The preparation of the food was not as it had been a few days earlier. In fact, it was pork or chicken and not beef!! After arguing for 3 minutes, I drove back to the restaurant where the battle continued. I finally left the food on the counter. I have never encountered a more irrational individual. I enjoyed my meal so much a few days prior. I will never come in again. I would have been a regular visitor. It was more important for the owner to be right (which she wasn't) than it was to please the customer and have me come back in the future. I am also appalled. I would definitely not go back and I will tell everyone I know, NOT to visit this establishment. If you do go, check your food because if you don't know better, they might try to pawn something else on you. I didn't even ask for my money back, I was that upset. Horrible service. No free refills for soda, no substitutions, only came by the table once. This use to be a great place, it has gone downhill. Also the employee's 4 year old kid was running around playing cars on the table. Not the restaurant experience I was hoping for. We will not be going back more

We have been ordering from HoGF now for about 4 years since we moved up to Murray Hill from Scottsdale. We have had some difficulty finding good (even edible) chinese food in Beaverton but HoGF has been a great find. Their service and food has been consisntently good. If you live in the Murray Hill area I would skip any of the other placese around and go here. We mostly do takeout but it is nice occasionally to sit in the quiet kind of dark ""old school"" kind of chinese food restaurant. We went to this place based on the reviews on this site and we weren't disappointed. While it is probably not the most authentic chinese, they have perfected the art of deep frying! Everything we got that was deep fried was perfectly crispy, not greasy at all and everything else had great flavor. I highly recommend it. Best Chinese food I've had since I've moved to Oregon from the LA area - where you can get good Chinese everywhere. We really like the mandarin chicken, chicken chow mein, kung pao chicken, potstickers, and crab puffs. I saw that this place was recommended and went there to get take-out. I placed my order, waited 30 minutes (not 15 as told) then was so happy that I finally got the food, that I didn't check my order. It turns out that the restaurant screwed up my order. Ok, I'm a bit miffed so I call them and tell them what happened. Instead of being courteous and correcting their mistake, the server kept on arguing with me that I got what I ordered and said that if I wanted something else, I would have to pay extra!!! After arguing for 10 minutes, I didn't even care anymore. This is the first time in my life that a restaurant refused to correct their mistake! I'm completely appalled. I used to go there years ago and for what reason I stopped, I can't remember why. But after recently ordering from them, since my son goes nuts for their Orange Chicken, I was so amazed how fresh and hot and light the food was. Not to mention, I ordered out and it was ready when I got there, even hot. Some take-out food is very heavy with oil or lard. This was not at all. I ordered Chicken Wonton soup which great but I got two large containors of it. The Potstickers weren't fried in lard but yet crispy and huge! And ya get alot of them!! For an overview, it's Great Food for about the same money you would spend at lesser quality restaurant, which means value. The only critizem I have is that they don't have their menu online. We found this place while living in the Murrayhill area. We moved out of the area a couple of years ago but we still frequent this place often. WE LOVE THIS PLACE! The food is fresh, hot, and always consistant (tastes the same as the last time you ordered it). I love the Two Flavored Hunan. I like spicy dishes and the ones that I have tried at this restaurant aren't over-baring or too skimpy on the spice as I have encountered at some other chinese places. All dishes can be prepared not spicy if you want. At some restaurants you find yourself asking ""Where's the Beef"" (or chicken or pork, or whatever you are having), rest assure you won't wonder about it here.
