Don't go out of your way for this one... 12/5/2005

After reading the rave reviews, we decided to make the 20 mile round trip to try this joint. It was NOT worth it. The chips were stale, the portions were tiny... The pork torta had a very nice flavor, but served on a huge plate with no sides made it look pitiful. The prices are way too high for the quality of the food. Entirely too much cilantro and lime juice. I LOVE cilantro and lime, but they drown pretty much everything in it, to the point that it's sometimes inedible. I do NOT recommend Hot's. This is the best mexican food in Los Angeles??? No way! It is average at best, and a bit overpriced for the value. The girls are cute, service fair, but this is not traditional mexican food, although the concept is good. Please, Olamendi's in Dana Point, Darios in Valencia, El Ranchito in Newport Beach, Maria Bonita in Agua Dulce are a far better representation of Sonoran/Veracruz style. more

New menu items 9/28/2005

This place is seriously fantastic. I think I am officially a Hot's Taco groupie... Sean made my friends and I the new Shrimp Tempura taco yesterday. Ok here is the thing, I HATE shrimp and never eat it, I'm just not a fan. I tried it yesterday and it was soooo delicious, I ended up finishing it. The crazy thing is we had already eaten our dinner and had 2 desserts before Sean even offered the Shrimp Taco and we still managed to eat the taco. It was THAT good! Also, I'd recommend the strawberry shortcake and not so fried ice cream to everyone, its soooo yummy! Pros: Great service, New menu items, FANTASIC creations more

Just the type of establishment a budding chef would open to share his creativity with other gourmands. Don't miss out on these one-of-a-kind creations, made with the freshest of ingredients...while enjoying the casual, yet sophisticated atmosphere. I just can't get enough of their tacos... It's a great place for my family to eat healthy food, hang out and talk. The service is great and the environment is kid friendly, but my husband and I still feel like we had a nice night out. Don't miss out... they have more then just tacos; salad is wonderful and their burger is amazing!! Pros: kid friendly, great food, music and tv more

Will definatley go back again 5/7/2005

I found this place through City Search and decided to give it a try. THe atmosphere is nice, food is good, service is excellent (My coke was always filled hehe) and the waitresses are gorgeous...I gota go here at night sometime with friends for a few drinks. Its a nice place to go hang out with some friends or even have a nice dinner with family, food is good do doubt about that! Just a bit of advice, you have to go order at the register then the waitress will bring you the food. Pros: Salsa, Bean Dip, Calle Steak Taco more

We've found our favorite Mexican joint - and it's right here in Northridge. The food is absolutely amazing! Fun atmosphere, great service, the food presentation is cool! The "not-so-fried" ice cream is a work of art! No plastic plates & cups here - all real nice! I think they have a bunch of new items that aren't even on the menu - kinda like a special VIP menu that no one knows about. They have the BEST burger I've ever had!!!! No joke!!! If you have a chance to try Hot's you should, it's the best! Pros: healthy food, friendly staff, great prices more

Hot's Tacos has become a refuge for amazing food. If you want a good time, great food, and gorgeous waitresses, as well as the extremely helpful cashiers Hots' is definetely the place for you. The food caters to almost all needs from the extreme of vegetarian, to a meat hungry carnivore. The options are there. The food is not only great, it's creative. With new fresh ideas showing up on the menu. Thanks to the absolute genius of Sean, the food continues to satisfy me as a customer. The service has been nothing but kind, and the girls' have developed their personalities and mannerisms to assist the customer in having a fabolous time. Anyone who insists Hot's Tacos is not but delectable, has obviously not eaten fine food, and may just need to try the place out again. To all you hungry folk, flock to Hot's. My kingdom for a torta! 12/18/2004

Hot's has reinvigorated the valley Mexican food scene. Thankfully, the food arrived quickly, otherwise I would have been too full from excellent, warm chips and cool salsa. Their rendition of the torta leaves me wanting more, but saving room for the "not-so-fried" ice cream. One would be hard-pressed to find a restaurant that is more fun, provides better tasting or higher quality food or service, anywhere in the Valley, or in Los Angeles for that matter! From the minute you walk in, to the minute you leave, its always a great experience. Just consider this, I always swore that I hated Mexican food...until I found Hot's. I've eaten there at least 3 times a week (extremely good value) since it opened, and it's never gotten old. Watch out...Hot's is here, and its hotter than ever! I never write reviews but this place is worth the effort. The quality of food they use is hard to find these days. It seems simple....great food and top quality products in a nice place. But you just can't find that so easily these days. This is the BEST food! We always get the dip trio which is sample of the bean dip, ceviche (best on the planet), and pico de gallo. My husband likes the two tacos to paradise and the tortas. I LOVE the protien plate and the crispy shrimp tacos. We live in Palm Desert but go up on weekends to see family and NEVER miss stopping at Hot's. Try it once and you'll be hooked too. HOOKED! Pros: Great food, Easy parking more

Hot's has become my family's favorite place. The ambience is fun, the service is excellent and the food is out of this world. Chef and owner Sean (nickname- Hot Sauce) creates dishes that are fresh, healthy and fabulous. It's hard to pick my favorite- the chicken wings, the nachos, the chopped salad, the carne asada- so hard to choose! New and special items are on the menu daily. Add the sangria or a beer and you can't beat this great new restaurant. Highly recommended. Pros: Delicious food., Healthy and fresh., Wine and beer. more

What a find! Hot's Tacos offers the best of dining: delicious food, friendly service and value, all in a comfortable setting (love the tunes). The steak and shrimp tacos are my favorites. The chips are the best I've ever had, the shrimp compechano is one of a kind, and the steak torta is divine. Everything is made to order, so you know it's fresh. The corn is unlike anything I've ever tasted-totally unique. The menu is purely original, you won't find anything like it anywhere. And the sangria...worth the trip every time. Kudos to the chef.
