Stay here 3/16/2010

We stayed here because it was close to the music department at Northwestern. I loved the decor and the bellman was super helpful. The beds were comfy and there are several good restaurant options within walking distance. I heard that the Hyatt bought them out. I hope they don't make too many changes. more

Not sure about 4 stars, but OK 9/8/2009

This is a great location near Northwestern Uni. About 20-30 minutes into downtown Chicago. The service was good, but the hotel has serious noise issues. The walls are thin, and there are no door seals, so you hear everything in the halls. This is no good when you have drunk people being obnoxious all night. Bring your earplugs. Bathroom is tiny, but clean and functional. Park on the street, unless you need the valet service. You can street park for a few dollars, and its free on Sun. Metered parking is available all around the hotel block. Pros: Not a 4 star, good service Cons: LOUD, thin walls, bring ear plugs more

Perfect Location and Great Service 7/12/2007

We just got married and hosted our reception at the Orrington Hotel. We didn't use a wedding planner. The hotel staff including Glen and Tonya were great....and helped us think of things we had forgotten, they followed up to confirm rooms and did many check-ins during the months leading up to the day via phone and e-mail. Overall, the food, service, rooms, and staff were top notch and the only thing we had to worry about was having fun. We also found the location very convenient for out of towners and it was great that the hotel was just two blocks from the ceremony! Pros: Great location, close to transportation, a great staff, and great food more

I was really disappointed with the service. 5/27/2005

To be fair, I have to say that the location of the hotel was great. The beds were comfy and the decor was hip. But if you are a stickler for service and punctuality, I would not recommend this hotel. Firstly, the internet did not work. When it did, it was very temporary. The staff were nice but they were not as helpful as I thought they should be. When I made a reservation, they had promised me a suite with a sky deck. That was why i reserved in the first place. But, when I got there, I was informed that there was no such thing !!!!! I think the staff itself is very fragmented and many donot know basic protocalls. I was staying with children who needed to go to school in the mornings and I found that the breakfasts were incredibly slow. We decided to order a 6:30am room service breakfast instead for the next day. The server got stuck in the elevator, couldnt find our room, and hence breakfast was served - cold - around 7:15am. They were not even willing to comp it. The bathrooms we more

Disappointing 9/15/2003

Really not up to the Omni's reputation. Rooms are small and showing their age. Carpets are threadbare, closets tiny, soundproofing not even considered. Front desk staff are surly and make it feel like you're bothering them even by checking in. We hoped for much more from this property. Breakfast at the Coaches' Cafe was excellent, and about the only thing going for this property. Pros: Location, Breakfast Cons: Room, Service, Decor more
