This place is haunted 2/18/2012

We stayed at the Hotel Colorado this Jan. 2012 because our daughter was working at the X Games in Aspen and pretty much every other hotel in Glenwood was full. We knew the hotel was rumored to be haunted so when we checked in I jokingly asked for a non-haunted room. The girl put us in room 323. It was definitely not a non-haunted room. The first night our TV would not work (or either would our internet - even tho it worked everywhere else in the hotel) but we woke up in the middle of the night and our TV was on. But we really didn't think much of it. The second night was a different story. At 2:30 in the morning I woke up to someone (or something) walking around our room. It would walk back and forth, to the closet, then to the bathroom and up by my husband 's head several times. I sat there freaking out for 5 minutes or so listening and trying to decide if I should wake everyone up and freak them out as well. I did wake them up, and I definitely freaked them out. I made it very obvious I was not kidding around. After a long discussion we decided not to leave (really there was no where to go and we had to get up in a few hours anyway) so we turned off all but the bathroom light and tried to go back to sleep. That's when we heard a very loud and strange sounding scream coming from god knows where. Both my husband and I sat straight up at exactly the same time. ( My daughter was in bed with me and my husband in the other bed.) My husband looked out into the courtyard to see if anyone was there (there was not) and there was noone in the hall. After that I hid under the covers and somehow fell back asleep. My husband shared with us in the morning that about an hour later that night he felt someone get in bed with him, even though noone was there. After a few moments whatever it was got up and walked out of the room. more

Don't stay at this hotel. 10/27/2008

We stayed for 2 nights in Nov. 2007. We rented 2 rooms and they both were not worth the over priced cost. As we were leaving, after we had checked out, I turned to take a picture of our friends on the main floor. I was slammed in my back by one of their doors. I ended up in emergency when I got home with a back injury. A picture was actually taken at the exact moment that I was injured. The Hotel will not respond to any of my complaints. Not even an apology. All they care about is getting money in their pockets and then in the welfare of their customers. I warn everyone do NOT waste your money at this hotel. BEWARE more

Colorado Hotel is the best thing in Glenwood Springs 7/7/2008

We spent 4th July weekend at the Colorado Hotel. Before we went I read all the reviews on this website and to be honest I did not know what to expect. I called the hotel early on July 4 and requested a early check in and when we arrived at 11:00 am the hotel staff was friendly and ready to accomodate us. Our room was clean, cool and comfortable. I was also concerned about the lack of air conditioning but it was not uncomfortable in the least. I did notice that the Bible was displayed and opened to the 35 Palms and a crystal hanging from the ceiling fan this sent up a red flag due to ghostly experiences in my past. I would also like to add that we took our english bulldog with us and she had the time of her life and was warmly welcomed by the staff and other guests. But getting back to the ghost story on our last night there about 2:00 am I was suddenly awaken by something touching my leg and it wasnt my husband or my dog..... I will add that the Hot Spring pool is overpriced and the rafting trip we took via Big Sky Adventure was more like a float down the river. The Hotel Colorado was worth the expereince. more

Hotel of Colorado (Glenwood Springs, CO) 3/27/2008

I have not stayed at the Hotel of Colorado but when my friend told me about it, she said that when you go to the floor where it is meant to be haunted, the temperature dropped dramatically. She said that it did not feel like an evil spirit but you felt like someone was watching you and it was eerie and like a spirit was wandering around there somewhere. I want a few friends to stay there but they won't. My advice, you never know what an experience like this is going to be like until you try it. So, take a chance and stay a night or two!!! Pros: A great experience. Cons: Totally Haunted!!! more

this hotel is haunted!!! 8/18/2007

i recently stayed here for a three day business meeting in glenwood. i had not heard that it was haunted nor had i ever been to a haunted hotel before. i and my entire family immediately felt it. do not stay in a few rooms, including 241. two out of four mornings around 7 am i smelled cigar smoke in the lobby. after i returned to my home town i looked up the hotel online to see if anyone else thought it was haunted. apparently it is famous for being haunted and many people mention smelling cigar smoke from the lobby when noone was around! there are other stories online as well. many of which, we had witnessed ourselves. it was an interesting experience but i will never stay there again. they really need to put in an air conditioning system in as well. after i am home safe though, i am glad i experienced it. Pros: near hot springs and historic Cons: haunted more

Not what they sell on their website 8/12/2004

I have never been so dissapointed in a hotel experience. The Hotel Colorado sells luxury on their website and the reality is that they are not doing this property justice, it could be something special like the Broadmoor or Brown Palace. We spent one summer night in this hotel and found out the hard way that they did not have air conditioning. Room service trays littered int eh hallway and not removed for 24 hours. They charged us $150.00 for a room that we couldn't sleep in (the bed and pillows were horrible)! Complaints to the hotel have gone unanswered. If you go, don't go in the Summer or you will regret it! Pros: Historical , Hot Springs, Location Cons: , Overpriced more
