""Go To"" place for all around goodness 2/13/2011

We love this restaurant - first the decor & restrooms are really nice/above & beyond what you'd expect in a casual dining restaurant. We also love the variety on the menu. (Our favorites are the burgers & pulled pork BBQ.) Drinks & beer selection are solid, too. Service is pretty good, even when it's really crowded. Far & away one of the best bets for family & casual dining in the Merrimack Valley area. We highly recommend ""the 'Shoe!"" more

One of the friendliest restaurants ever 3/21/2010

I've know the Lee family for 52 years, from Pat's father to his great uncle. And the service is like going to your uncles place with family service. Fantastic food & service 4/11/2009

We were driving back from New Hampshire and looking for a place to eat that was not a chain restaurant and noticed this spot. We had never heard of it and decided to try it. We are glad we did. Gourmet barbecue at its best! 12/22/2008

The ""Shoe"" is our local favorite. Great atmosphere and excellent service. The menu features something for everyones taste and the food is top quality, gourmet cuisine. Lots of great barbecue, good sandwiches and nice salads. A great family place but fun to go as a couple or with friends. Love the pulled pork and turkey tips. Oh yes.....desserts are heavenly and need to be shared! more

Best Family restaurant in the noth of Boston Area 12/13/2008

We have two children ages 1 and 3 and go to the Shoe whenever we need a meal out. Diverse menu. Food is consistently very good, the steaks for me and the specials or pulled pork for my wife though the occasional diversion to the ribs is also a good choice. Portion sizes are generous but not overwhelming. Service has always been good and the corn bread is both delicious and a good distraction while we wait for our meals. Good drink selections as well. Nice bar area but we do not usually get to sit there with the kids. In the warm weather the outside patio is great. Service is just as good outside as in and we do not worry about how much noise or mess the kids are making. The place gets busy as the evening goes on so we get there early as it is easier with the kids. Great place for adults as well and we have gone with other couples when we can get sitters. Nice atmosphere and always clean, except our area when we leave, all those corn bread crumbs the kids left behind. Fireplace in the middle is a nice touch on the cold days. Great Food featuring something for everyone-atmosphere is warm and welcoming 12/12/2008

The Horseshoe is a all around great place to catch a great meal, enjoy a good drink or both. This restaurant offers a bit of everything you maybe looking for. Enjoy your meal in the dining room with your family or a quiet dinner by the fireplace. The bar is a great place to meet friends, enjoy a drink, watch the current sporting event or all of the above. The menu has a good variety that include great entrees. hearty salads, burgers, and sandwiches. My husband loves the Southfork Steak and the Shoe Burger. I sample from all of the menu but to name a few of my favorite; the Island Salad, Veal with Vodka Sauce and most of the fresh fish specials they offer. Pros: I am a local and frequently meet friends or dine just with the family Cons: I wish they had a private dining area for small functions more

You'll want to go back for more.............. 12/11/2008

Some restaurants you go to, there is way too much stuff on the menu, some do not have enough. The Horseshoe is just right. There is something for everyone in the family. It can also be a nice spot for a romantic dinner for two by the fireplace. The food is prepared well and the servers are very friendly and attentive. Great management! My family and I frequent the Horseshoe a lot since we live in town but would still travel a distance even if it were located elsewhere. My husband and I, at times, go without the kids to enjoy the awesome appetizers and have a drink in the bar area, but mostly during Red Sox season so we can watch the game! Not only are the dinners mouth watering but the sandwiches on the lunch menu are very tasty!!! And...oh...they do catering also! Party season coming up....get on it now!!!!! Plenty of parking. Busy on the weekends but a must try for lunch and weeknights for families. All in all I give the Horseshoe 5 stars. more

Ribs to die for 9/5/2008

I had heard about the place from friends and decided to try it while driving through town. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service great. Asked the wait staff what their favorite dishes were because we were new to the place and they offered some great selections. It was clear that they liked the food there as well. more

World's best ribs. Top quality meats 9/5/2008

Ribs are out of this world. We came with a large party and everything was excellent. Host and servers were very friendly and came by often to ensure we had a great time. . Food and service was excellent. We all drove down from NH well worth the short ride. This is a family place were you can relax and have a beverage in the lounge while you are waiting to be seated. Very relaxed. Enjoy Pros: Food, Service, and value for your dollar. Cons: none more

Best Nachos I have ever had! Excellent Service, Outdoor Seating, Great Staff! 9/4/2008

I go to the Horseshoe Grille often for dinner. The food is amazing! They serve the BEST NACHOS I have ever had! The steak tips are delicious and cooked exactly the way you like them! They have a very nice outdoor seating area where we like to hang out with friends and have a couple drinks or appetizers! The drinks are wonderful! We recommend the martinis! The shrimp rolls are highly recommended as well! The staff at the Horseshoe Grille is always friendly and welcoming! The food is delivered efficiently and from a smiling face! We highly recommend the Horseshoe Grille, you will have an excellent experience! more

Delicious, enjoyable, and welcoming 6/4/2008

Wow! Renovating the old horseshoe cafe into the new horseshoe grille was definately a smart choice to make. I knew of the old horseshoe for some time, but mostly ordered out rather than dining in because of the bar-like atmosphere. With the renovation, however, the horseshoe grille is one of my favorite places to attend! The salads are delicious and always fresh, as is the seafood entrees. My new meal of choice is the panko chicken. The mustard sauce is uniquely delicious and there is enough chicken to last me two days! Along with the great food is also great service. The staff is warm, respectful, and super friendly. I recommend the horseshoe to family, friends, and co-workers. Go check it out- You won't be disappointed! more

Excellent restaurant, great service 5/15/2008

I went to the Horseshoe Grill for lunch today, I drove up from downtown Boston, well worth the ride. The atmosphere is great, its been around for 80 years, 80 years!! I noticed all the bbq awards on the wall so I decided to order the brisket sandwich. Ive eaten at a bunch of bbq restaurants and my complaint is always that the portions are too small. I was surprised to see how large the brisket sandwich was, there was meat overflowing out the sides. There is extra bbq sauce on the table but they will bring you some spicy bbq on the side if you ask, def ask for it! Needless to say I will not only be returning but I will be recommending horseshe grill to anyone and everyone. Pros: service, food, bbq sauce Cons: its not closer to my house. more
