Since its founding in 1949, Hoosier Energy's mission has remained consistent: providing affordable, reliable power to rural and underserved regions of Indiana and Illinois. Throughout Hoosier Energy's history, our footprint has expanded to reach hundreds of thousands of homes, farms and businesses. Today, we serve 18 member electric cooperatives, delivering power through a 1,700-mile transmission network.
Unlike many major electrical utilities, Hoosier Energy is not directed by a group of investors. Everything we do is on behalf of our members. We aren't profit-minded; we're member-minded. Our decisions are guided by the farmers, families and businesses we serve, true to the cooperative model. We closely operate in accordance to the seven cooperative principles and values, which make up the framework of our organization.
