Prior to this experience, I would have rated the store a 4-5. I have shopped at Homemaker's for years. My family had a house fire and lost all our belongings. We went to Homemaker's and placed a special order. Knowing their policy upfront about the 25 percent restocking fee, we measured everything! We took the measurements into the store and the sales person Chad added up all the dimenstions and told us that the furniture would fit. We measured the door, etc...he told us that the furntiture would fit through the door, etc...we discussed this prior to ordering. We waited months to get our furniture, just to find out that it wouldn't fit through the door. We ordered the furniture based off of what their sales person told us. Instead of working with us to rectify the problem, they told us that we would have to pay the 25 percent restocking fee. Sandy, one of the managers in upholstery furniture was very rude, nasty and condenscending. I told her that I was going to contact corporate and spread the word. She told me to go right ahead. Wow! What customer service! Gary and Aaron (other managers) were at least decent to talk to and did not exhibit a rude attitude. While we do take some responsibility, the store personnel were not willing to accep any of the responsiblity of giving us the wrong information. All we wanted was fair treatment and for them to work with us as we ordered new furniture. We felt like we should not have to pay the $411.00 restocking fee beccause had we not been given misguided information, we certainly would not have ordered furniture that wouldn't fit through the door!!!!~ Unfortunatlely, we will no longer shop at Homemaker's. If you want to special order furniture, I would urge you to shop around and seek competent sales people that know how to calculate dimensions!
