Holy nightmare, Batman!
We bought a new home last year and spent a big chunk of change at Home Depots around town. To keep a very long, sordid tale short, absolutely NOTHING was easy. From appliances not in stock (apparently anywhere), to missed installation dates (we were sitting on the porch), to loooooooong waits for customer "service", to an over-dressed under-qualified "designer" stepping WAY over the line with "advice", it was an all-star painful experience.
One specific example for your sampling: We purchased an upscale sink/faucet combo. The faucet was a dark copper color but the handles that came with it were a shiny chrome -- not what we'd ordered. When we took it into the above-mentioned designer, she initially denied that there was "anything I can do". (Complete horse hockey, of course.) The manager was accomodating enough, but unwisely bounced us back to the "designer" to get the new parts reordered. Since we had an independent plumber scheduled to install it and had already paid for the initial shipping costs, we asked that the shipping be expedited (2-day). Her unwillingness to comply with this request (and ludicrous sugguestion that we PURCHASE some CLAMPS to turn our water on and off!) required another visit to the manager, who volleyed us back to the designer after speaking with her on the phone. With a sour disposition, she stated it would be done...
Fast forward 3 days...
You guessed it. Our plumber came and went without the new handles to install. One last phone call to Home Depot revealed that our package had indeed been sent... STANDARD SPEED.
They've refused to send of of their installers out to fix our handles, which now sit cockeyed on the sink.
Thanks for nothing, Home Depot. And please don't let us hear you laugh as you keep our hard-earned $-,---.
Pros: The store is clean
Cons: POOR customer service, takes little-to-no responsibility for product quality ("talk to the manufacturer")
