I have to disagree with calicrowned. I have ordered close to one hundred cakes from Home Bakery over the last twenty-five years, including birthday, wedding and shower cakes. I have never been disappointed. When my children were young and wanted a particular theme, I would simply give the idea and the decorators took it from there. I was always amazed by the creativity and perfection of the designs. As far as taste, I very much disagree with you. Not only are there many batter and filing choices, but they are all delicious. Always moist and fresh. The buttercream frosting is wonderful and just as good is their poured chocolate topping. I can't imagine comparing a Home Bakery cake to a Kroger cake......there is simply no comparison. Perhaps I have not sampled as many cakes in my lifetime as you apparently have, but I know what tastes good! As far as customer service is concerned.......I have NEVER had a negative experience. Every time I've been in the bakery I have been waited on quickly and politely. When I ordered a wedding cake for my sister, I was very pleased with the attentive manner of the staff and the choices I was give. This is a wonderful bakery and I will be a life-long customer. I'm new to MI, as of 08, and I have been looking for my new favorite bakery for months. I found Home Bakery by driving through Downtown Rochester. I immediately had high hopes when I entered the establishment and noticed many wonderfully designed examples displayed throughout. Initially, the younger blond girl who helped me was kind as I initiated conversation about their specialties. She then opened up and compared their establishment to ""Ace Of Cakes"" and that really sparked my curiousity. We (my fiance and I) tried a cupcake since we weren't in the market for an actual cake yet, and it was fine for a cupcake (nothing at all like Cupcake Station, wow, now they have amazing cupcakes - watch out Sprinkles!!). All the while, thinking that most top bakeries, (such as Hansens Cakes in Tarzana - just a bit north of Los Angeles - whom are rude also, but have gorgeous, tasty-delicious cakes), have great differences in their batter, fillings and frostings used in ordered cakes vs cupcakes and sample pieces for tastings. Could be the freshness or just plain attention they get. Pros: Yes, I will admit, the cakes are beautifully designed. Cons: Poor customer service and not really all that good in taste. more

My only experience with the HOME Bakery was when my wife passed away. My employer sent a gift basket from HOME Bakery. It was a giant basket filled with individually wrapped Danish rolls, muffins, cookies, a raspberry loaf, a loaf of bread and a couple of things I can't name. Every single item was perfectly moist, attractive and bursting with taste. So, I got a lot of variety of items to try and I can't think of a single thing to say that's negative about any item, and I tried them all. Thus, I feel justified in stating my opinion. I would highly recommend this bakery to all of my family and friends. Because this was a gift, I cannot speak about the price. But, because of the quality of their product, I would expect to pay a higher price. We're not talking about Twinkies here. These are superior baked goods and I know my baked goods. Give them a try! I love this bakery! They did our wedding cake, and even though there was a slight problem with the top (due to a VERY WARM day), they did a new top before any got to the reception! Pros: One of a kind cakes. Can do wonderful flavor combos Cons: None that I can think of - you are paying for a work of art! more

3-D pink poodle cake for my daughter's first birthday. Pokemon for my son, CD player for my other daughter, Hawaiian Luau scene for my friend's wedding shower, gift-wrapped present for my Christmas party ( so realistic that my guests thought the buffet was the gift table)....the list goes on and the inspiration is endless! Pros: Cakes keep well a day before the party and freeze for 3 months and you'd swear it was made yesterday! Cons: 3D, or sculpted, cakes are expensive...but worth it! more

We've used Home Bakery for all of our family birthday cakes since 1999. The cakes are absolutely delicious. We always get positive feedback from the parents of our daughters friends as well as our own guests on the creative designs of the cakes. In fact, we get ""new believers"" from our guests every year and have noticed how many of our friends and neighbors are now ordering their cakes from Home Bakery. They can be a bit pricey depending on what you want but you won't regret it. We've even established Home Bakery as one of our preferred suppliers for corporate events. They can also deliver if you need it. Customer service is great. They aim to please! Pros: Absolutely delicious, Creative designs, Good customer service Cons: Can be expensive, Cash/check only more
