My parents felt that my sister and I should attend private school as opposed to the public school in Altgeld Gardens, so we were sent to Holy Name of Mary. Of course, things were different in the early forties and fifties - manners, morals, conduct and behavior were taught at that time. There were rules and behavior guidelines. The one thing that stands out in my mind was the teaching that you must ""do unto others as you would have them do unto you."" I have lived by that standard all of my life and have never forgotten it. I am now 65 yrs. old approaching 66 and for some strange reason I continue to expect people to treat me the same as I treat them. ???
