Dr. Holt's respect of his customers' time is inexcusable. Dr. Holt will not return calls! We called him on his pager and office numbers, many times for several days; which has turned out for the best. We want to know we can reach our vet at all times, just in case we ever have a real emergency. I've read many reviews and have heard first hand of Dr. Holt's bad reputation and unscrupulous mannerism; which he has proven to be accurate. We have since found a great mobile equine veterinarian in Dr. Kenton Arnold, DVM. Dr. Arnold is also located in Terrell; with the choice of mobile or stationary. Dr. Arnold is kind, knowledgeable, informative, helpful, polite, professional and compassionate; along with his staff. Dr. Arnold's mobile truck is well stocked, clean and tidy, and he has a beautiful facility to board and care for your horse if you so desire. I've had my horse, plus others over 17 years and having moved around the country I've had several vets for comparison. The vet I was using had come for routine 6 month shots, sheath cleaning and teeth float. She gave the shots, then refused to do the extra services and required that I trailer in to have that done. I had Dr. Holt recommended to me, noting he is hard to get a hold of but that it was witnessed that he had serviced a horse that had ripped half it's face off on barbed wire. Upon treatment and healing, there was no sign of any of that damage. Dr. Holt had no issues coming to my barn and performing the additional services. I've been using him ever since. This last spring shot season my Arabian and ripped a 2 inch piece of his nose. Dr. Holt cleaned and reattached the hide, there is absolutely no signs this ever happened after it healed. Additionally at a later time, the Arabian developed an abscess on his neck that would not heal. Dr. Holt spent 2 hours cleaning proudflesh and suturing providing instructing on care and did not charge me for this work. I've had no issues with Dr. Holt and do recommend him. I find his charges reasonable and in line with other vets in the area, nor have I had any issues with his private life interfering with mine - nor has anyone else at my barn. I began using Dr. Holt when he first came to Texas back in early 1990s where he worked for the Kaufman vet, and thereafter followed him to the vet in Talty. Tim was discharged from both places, leaving under extreme negative wrongful conditions. I stayed with Dr. Holt when he began his own practice in mid 1990s, of course I did not find out his wrong doings with the first two vets he worked for until after I finally had enough of his deceit and unreliability, and made the best decision for my horses/barn to leave Dr. Holt in early 2008. Dr. Holt was a go getter at the beginning but he slowly began to decline in his work ethics, reliability, work performance and personal appearance. It had gotten to the point of not being able to reach him even through his emergency pager service. He would not return emergency pages for days. He would schedule an appointment and not show and not even call for days to reschedule, some times he would have his secretary or fiance to call making up excuses. Dr. Holt's appearance was clear evidence that he had some type of medical/chemical problems which clearly was hindering his work ethics, clients' needs and his own personal appearance. I have been in the horse business for over 40 years and know many trainers, competitors, sellers/buyers, and pleasure owners who use to use Dr. Holt; every single one of them have ended their relationship with Dr. Holt due to his total unstableness and complete unreliability. The rumors of his personal, inappropriate and unprofessional advances toward married woman are completely true. My personal thought is it should be told to warn any potential future clients. He is a predator with no remorse or care for any other human. I know many individuals who have quit his services due to this fact and several marriages that ended due to his lack for respecting the bond of marriage. Our horses' health and welfare, and our personal own comfort in knowing we had a reliable, stable, professional, caring vet was not worth waiting on this doctor to iron out his personal issues and get his professional responsibilities back on track. My professional and personal experiences with Tim Holt have been nothing but negative. He takes too long returning emergency calls, never on time or does not show up, prices are too high. If you want a professional relationship with a reliable veterinarian then I would not recommend using Tim Holt. Tim is a self-pitying, double-dealing, womanizing, manipulator. This lotharios struggles with low self-esteem and his behavior is far from innocent. You will know this only after the fact of a personal or professional relationship with him. We used Dr. Holt...NOT anymore. Dr. Holt will not return your calls whether you have a life and death emergency or not. Always having an excuse as to why you have not heard from him. This vet keeps himself locked up in his house for days on end due to chemical addictions. Missing appointments, ignoring calls, making up lies. His prices are way too high! The State Board has a complaint file for him. He has lost touch with genuineness and uprightness. When he does show up he displays very peculiar and unscrupulous mannerism. His total appearance, attitude, health and practice obviously have plummeted since we first hired him as our vet over 10 years ago. I will not and do not ever recommend using Dr. Holt to any person - this man is a liar and cheat. He has, without remorse, shattered many relationships, marriages and families through the use of his mobile services. He is an uncaring, scheming and a depraved man. Dr. Holt is the best equine vet I have come across in years. He is highly informative in his diagnosis and treatment. His charges are extremely reasonable and akin. Dr. Holt has always shown endless professionalism. I would favorably recommend Dr. Tim Holt for all your equine requirements if you truly care for your animals and their health needs. His staff is beyond helpful and courteous. Not quick in responding to calls. Priced too high for services. Always late.\r \r Dr. Holt is uncaring and disrespectful. He lacks in giving the correct treatment and opinions. His stall side manner gets too personal in his obvious attempts in establishing an unprofessional relationship with his female clientele. Best service in town. Dr. Holt takes great care of my horses and has informed me as to every treatment available so that I may make an educated decision. His knowledge is first rate but nothing compared to his stall side manner. His concern for the animal's welfare and wellbeing is nothing short of amazing. Not only does he treat the animal he also takes the time to educate the customer on proper treatment procedures. Moreover, he is very respectful of his customers time, example: if he is running late he will call and let you know.
