Hollywood in Wax 4/14/2006

The Hollywood wax museum has displays of scenes from your favorite movies with wax figures. Although some of the wax figures do not look as life like as some of the others the museum is still worth taking a look at. The museum has late hours (they are open until 1 am) so it is a good place to go to end the day. You can buy a combination ticket that also gives you admission to the Guiness Book of World Records Museum that is across the street. more

Wax Museum 8/17/2005

The Hollywood Wax Museum houses lots of different wax replicas of a wide arrange of Hollywood stars. Some of them look surprisingly real and it feels kind of creepy when its looking at you. Admission isn't cheap, at about $13 for adults and you're bound to only spend about an hour or so inside. more

Stepping well beyond the realm of campy, the museum is classic Hollywood schlock at its best and worst. A distant second to an actual celebrity sighting, a visit is less about seeing the effigies than about being able to say that you were here. Just don't let it bother you that David Hasselhoff looks like he has jaundice--do what the locals do: Go in for a good laugh. Admission: Adults $10.95; seniors $8.50; children 6-12 $6.95 more

Hollywood Wax Museum 8/13/2005

Been here and was suprised by many of the wax statues that seemed very real, ofcourse some had a close likeness but not to fool you like some. I saw a particular scene of the movie the exorcist here where the possesed girl was on the ground (sitting on the floor) and the priest on his feet rebuking the devil out of her and that looked amazingly real, it was scary. I like wax museums because they're completely absurd. When you think about it, it's inexplicable that 21st-century adults like me will actually pay money to see mannequins in various poses. At the Hollywood Wax Museum, some of these poses worked, but many of them were failures both as likenesses and as aesthetic objects. The 12.95 admission price was scarier than most of the Chamber of Horrors. more
